Big Hearted Pars Fans Help others to follow their team.

A loyal band of expats continue the community spirit at Dunfermline Athletic by buying season tickets for deserving Pars fans who would otherwise not be able to attend games.

The Board of Directors at Dunfermline Athletic Football Club are delighted that the Pars fans website DAFC.net recently started an initiative whereby exiled Pars fans could purchase tickets for Under 18 or OAP supporters, who themselves may not be in a position otherwise to attend East End Park.

DAFC.net themselves paid for a lucky OAP to receive a Season Ticket this season.

So far 10 expat Pars fans have raised a total of £1,900 towards the initiative, with others offering further support. The donations have come in from as far afield as Austria, Australia, Canada and Australia. 8 lucky Pars fans have already been the recipients of a Season Ticket for this season.

The remaining cash is to be used to buy match tickets for underprivileged or sick kids to attend East End Park throughout the course of the current season.

Brian Duncan of DAFC.net who was behind this initiative is delighted with what has been achieved to date. “The passion and generosity of the exiled fans has been absolutely fantastic, and we are looking at ways of making this a regular exercise for future seasons”.

One of the exiled Pars fans who took part was Kenny Mitchell, formerly of Jennie Rennies Road in Dunfermline, who is now a civilian contractor based in Kabul. Kenny stated “as a lifelong Pars fan I was keen to help others who are less fortunate to attend games, as I cannot go myself but remain committed to the fortunes of my Club and Town”.

Tracey Martin, Marketing Director at DAFC commented “this further strengthens the community spirit of our Football Club, at a time when many fans are faced with their own financial pressures. Many exiled Fans have stated that this is their way of ‘giving back’ to the local community, recalling their own fond memories of attending games at East End Park”.
