Legends Reunited and the Hall of Fame are back

Date: Wednesday, 15th Oct 2014

DAFC is delighted to announce that after a short gap, the Dunfermline Athletic Hall of Fame will be revived again during season 2015/16, with the most likely date for the event being around September/ October 2015.

However, this popular occasion won’t just be back, but it will be back with a difference. We have a planning group looking at some exciting possibilities at present and further announcements will be made in due course, but suffice to say that ordinary fans will both have a better chance of attending the new-style event, and have a say in who gets inducted into the Pars Hall of Fame.
In the meantime and by way of whetting fans’ appetite for this later event, we are also reviving our Legends Reunited events. These were popular evenings in which former players came along, told a few stories and answered questions and generally mingled with fans and had a laugh in a relaxed atmosphere.

The first of these will take place on Saturday 15th November in the Kingdom Suite at East End Park, starting at 7.30pm, and we’ve got a great line up already confirmed. We’ve got a mix of former players spanning six decades so there should be something for just about all of our fans to enjoy. And priced at just £10 for a ticket, including hot food, this is an evening not to be missed.
With still more names expected to confirm, our present line-up includes our very own Jim Leishman who we’re hoping we can get to talk more about his playing days and less about ‘that goal’ against Rangers! We’ve also managed to find 70s cult hero Mike Leonard and he’s confirmed that he’ll attend. Mike hasn’t set foot in East End Park since he attended the 1985 Centenary celebrations, so there’s a lot to catch up on!
From the 1980s, we’ve got the popular figures of striker John Watson, midfielder Stevie Morrison, and full back Graeme Robertson, while David Bingham and Scott ‘Nipper’ Thomson will represent the 90s and the Noughties. And by way of a reminder about how good all these guys were, we’ll be showing some nostalgic video clips of the players in action.
With the likelihood of more names confirming in the next couple of weeks, this should be a great night out for all Pars fans but you will have to be quick because there are only 120 tickets available.
This is all part of a drive to make better use of the facilities at East End Park, and generate more income for the club. Director Billy Braisby commented, “We want East End Park to be a social hub as well as a football stadium. If our fans support events like this it brings in much-needed revenue to the club and keeps the fans involved. If this is successful we plan to do this type of event every six months.”
