Nicholl Sounds Alarm

Author: Niall Shaw Date: Thursday, 5th Sep 2002

Jimmy Nicholl has sounded the alarm at East End Park following consecutive defeats to Hearts and Rangers.

"Our next two games are away and if we take nothing from them, we`ll find ourselves in a position we didn`t expect, considering our early form," said the assistant manager.

"We want to keep progressing but that`s not just about where we finish in the league, but also how we do at places like Tynecastle and against Rangers.

"Our confidence seemed to desert us on Sunday. Marco Ruitenbeek saved us from losing nine or ten and that`s frightening."

Meanwhile, East End Park boss Jimmy Calderwood has gone for a short holiday to Holland to reflect on his side`s 6-0 hammering from Rangers on Sunday.

Nicholl added: "He has gone away to think what is wrong in his team that can play brilliantly one day and then lose six goals to Rangers.

"We need seven or eight players who can pull together the three or four who are having an off day. We don`t have that at the moment."
