Airdrie Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Sunday, 23rd Aug 2009

Highlights from interviews given by Jim McIntyre, Joe Moore (the linesman), Joe Cardle and Kenny Black after the game against Airdrie at East End Park.

Jim McIntyre
Jim thinks his side started the game well but following the restart found it hard to pick up momentum and were lucky not to conceed. Overall he was pleased with the result although it could have been a lot more comfortable with several chances not being converted. On the refereeing predicament, McIntyre is confused as to why there is no fourth officials in SFL league matches but gives credit to the fan who stepped in to run the line.

Joe Moore (the linesman)
Joe found himself the centre of attention at East End Park and according to the 24 year old Geography teacher it was a dream come true. He is used to refereeing juvenile matches but jumped at the chance to run the line in the first division league match. Joe also admits that he is used to having a few pints before the match but hold ups on the bridge meant he was clear headed, which is just as well.

Joe Cardle
Joe was happy to recieve the reception from the Airdrie supporters which he believes helps spur him on when ever he is given abuse from the stands. Its a great feeling to be sitting top of the league but there were issues with the performance that put them there, but as Joe says, they musn`t grumble. The fact that there was no replacment for the injured referee was a strange experience for the winger and certainly one he has never encountered before.

Kenny Black
Kenny admits that his team were well beaten on the day and contributing to losing the goals will always make it difficult to get a good result. The own goal wasn`t the main problem for Black who was unhappy that the crosses were coming in to begin with. The quality at Dunfermline is noticed by the Airdrie manager who knows there is quite a gap between themselves and the leagues top teams, having been set up for second division football until a few weeks ago.
