Football Aid Five-a-side Challenge Cup

Date: Monday, 28th Jun 2004

Dunfermline Athletic Football Club are teaming up with Football Aid to run the first ever Football Aid Challenge Cup at East End Park on Saturday, 3rd July.

Football Aid is the charity that gives football fans the chance to live their dream of playing for their club by bidding online at www.footballaid.com. Following the successful completion of their 2004 programme with clubs in Scotland and England, the Challenge Cup represents their first venture into five-a-side football. They are delighted to be working with Dunfermline Athletic.

Craig Paterson, Chairman of Football Aid said,

“We are very pleased to be launching our first 5-a-side tournament and are grateful to Dunfermline Athletic for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities. The Football Aid brand goes from strength to strength, and I am sure that our first ever five-a-side players will have a great day – playing football and raising funds for diabetes research at the same time.”

Jim Leishman, Director of Dunfermline Athletic, added,

“We are delighted to welcome Football Aid back to East End Park; it’s a magnificent cause and one which we will continue to support in any way we can. Let’s hope this event gets the response it deserves and goes on to become a regular fixture in years to come.”

Football Aid will provide fundraising packs and the team raising the most money will win a fantastic prize. Entry is limited to 24 teams on a first come first served basis with seven players per team. The tournament takes place on Saturday, 3rd July at East End Park. Kick off is at 11.00 am.
