Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Saturday, 15th Jan 2005

Highlights from interviews given by Davie Hay, Lee Makel and Barry Nicholson after the game against Rangers.

Davie Hay
Davie blames the lack of conviction for his sides loss at Ibrox, he acknowledges the effort put in by the team but explains that more is needed against the old firm. He also realises that with such an early goal there was going to be more importance placed on he teams work rate but it simply wasn’t good enough. Again, Hay has to give details about the situation with Aberdeen and Nicholson saying that enquiries were made but that the Pars don’t need to sell him.

Lee Makel
Lee acknowledges that we really have to find someone to score goals and the early goals for Rangers probably left the Pars with too much to do. He believes his own fitness will return quickly once he has played some more games and hopes to start scoring some goals of his own.

Barry Nicholson
Barry also feels the early goal made it too hard for the team to get anything from the tie. His main concern was that the goals were preventable and that side of their game is something that needs to be worked on. He explains why he was played upfront and puts it down to the lack of striking personal that are available but says he enjoyed that role. Barry is wary that the club doesn’t go into Tuesday’s Scottish Cup tie over confident and has kept quiet about their chances of progressing as it can always come back to haunt the team. He has no idea about players coming back from injury and is again giving praise to the youngsters who have filled in. When asked about the Aberdeen bid for his services he tells us that Hay contacted him to say that the bid had been rejected, he maintains that he is very happy at Dunfermline. He is adamant that the players are happy under their new manager and it is only the results on the park that need to improve in order for the team to climb the table.
