Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Thursday, 10th Nov 2005

Highlights from interviews given by Jim Leishman, Noel Hunt and Tony Moybray after the CIS Cup game against Hibs at EEP.

Jim Leishman
Jim is very proud of his team for working so hard and thought Shields and Tod handled the Hibs front two magnificently. Leishman again goes over the injury crisis and explains what he thought of the goals, and gives praise to Noel Hunt for his great performance. He has no idea why league form is so different to that of the cup form recently but feels that the fact his side had nothing to lose as they were complete underdogs. Upon the chances of winning the cup Leishman sees no reason why not if they get a little luck in the draw and the fact that the club are in it speaks volumes. He talks about the lack of fans during the game and feels it would have aided the atmosphere to have more in but at the same time understands why the crowds have diminished.

Noel Hunt
Noel speaks for the team and says that all of the players were delighted at the result, he also touches upon how The Pars were completely written off for this tie. He feels his own performace was ok having had a hand in the second goal and working hard throughout the match to ensure that Hibs had no time on the ball. Noel is looking to continue his striking partnership with Mark Burchill and praises his team mate for being on the end of most flicks and touches with his pace. Upon keeping his place in the team Noel hopes that the side can go from strength to strength and he wants to be a big part of that, with help from the lads around him. Also optimistic about the clubs chances of winning the cup having put one of the leagues best sides and beating them at their own game.

Tony Moybray
Mowbray believes is was a bad day at the office but gives Dunfermline credit for having a game plan and following it through. He is disappointed for the players, the many fans and because they are out of the cup. Tony doesn’t blame his players but is of the opinion that a few below par performances made it very hard but realises that every team offers defeat but its hard to drop out of the cup. The reaction in the Hibs dressing room is that of dejection but he reminds people how well they are doing in the league and praises his players for there over all season effort. He believes that Dunfermline will win plenty of matches if they play like that every game.
