Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Monday, 21st May 2007

Highlights from interviews given by John Hughes and Stephen Kenny after the 0-3 defeat against Falkirk at East End Park.

John Hughes
Hughes gives his players credit for the whole season having clinched 7th place in the league, he believes that they well deserve their league standing, although they are punching above their weight. John wants the fans to realise that it will be tough to maintain these sort of performances into next season due to what is going on at the club in terms of infrastructure. It is sad for the club that two or three of the better players are leaving in pre-season and Hughes gives special mention to front man Alan Gow, wishing him luck upon his move to Rangers.

Stephen Kenny
Kenny explains his team choice as being a neccesity with the cup final coming the following week, he felt it would be counter productive to play players who will not feature in the big game on the 26th. Players like Dorus de Vries and Jim McIntyre missed out due to having injuries that just couldnt be risked in a game of little relevance to the season. Stephen jokes about going away before the cup final but he doesnt feel the team needs it as normality is the best thing for the players. There should be no problems with the players commitment and passion for the game on Saturday as cup finals dont come around too often, the Falkirk result wont put a dampner on what is a huge day for the club.
