Real Football? Woodmill v St Columbas
Author: Steven Lynde Date: Tuesday, 10th Sep 2002The somewhat recent hostilities between Woodmill and St Coulmbas were put aside for this `friendly` which Woodmill ran out easy winners with a disputed scoreline of 12-6.
Woodmill lined up with DAFC.net regulars Ivo, Eastendskerla, Rorz7, SUPERPAR and LazyB, with a few other unknowns playing. Called Matthew Winski (Winki) and Greame Haggart (Haggis). While St Coulmbas lined up with Chinns, Prague, Topcorner, Caveman_dode, Pieman and a few randoms who no-one knows the name of!
With Woodmill, shooting with the wind behind their backs, fell behind 2-0 within the first 10 minutes of this 90 minute match. With Ivo playing in goals, the first goal was a mix up in the defence, and the second an excellent cross expertly headed into the back of the net by Topcorner.
This gave Woodmill the shake up they needed and came back strongly in the rest of the half by scoring 8 goals through LazyB, Winski, Haggis and Rorz7.
Rorz7 incidently secured celebration of the match by removing his shirt and waving it around his head, showing the attendance of 6 his somewhat very white skinny body!
St Columbas replied to Woodmills 8 with a solitary goal,
leaving the scoreline to be 8-3 Woodmill at half time.
Second half saw Woodmill shooting into the wind and the sun blazing in there eyes. The pitch was standing up remarkably well considering there were at least 10 puddles of water on it. Woodmill knowing they had won the match took their foot off the pedal and started showboating but to no avail.
With the Woodmill back line of Eastendskerla, Ivo and Winski not looking like conceding many goals, they all started to push up. With Rorz 7 again claiming another award for goal of the match, a perfectly executed lob from
around 20 yards.
St Columbas came back into the match near the end of the game going on to finish strongly. With Chinns doing a very good man marking job on Ivo they were running havoc in the depleted Woodmill defence, but Eastendskerla taking a note out of the real Skerlas book and playing a spirited game in
defence.
Caveman_dode, and Pieman managed to get on the score sheet as well as Ivo and Eastendskerla near the end of the game.
