Author: Philip Meldrum Date: Friday, 6th Feb 2004

An investigative project about the appeal of the SPL to
football fans.

An investigative project about the appeal of the SPL to
football fans in conjunction with Glasgow Caledonian Business School and the Chief of Marketing & Communications at the Scottish Premierleague.

It`s concerns the virtual monopoly that the Old Firm have with regards to crowds and fan base in Scotland, and how smaller clubs can market themselves better in an attempt to narrow the gulf.

There are only a few questions which shouldn`t take too long to answer, but the results are going to be extremely helpful to provincial clubs as they find out the best ways to advertise themselves and pull in more supporters.

Questions:

1. What team do you support?

2. How many SPL matches do you attend each season ?
less than 5
5-10
11-20
more than 20

3. Do televised football matches from countries other than Scotland have a negative effect on you attending SPL matches

4. Do you consider any products or services in other industries to be a good substitute to going to SPL matches?

5. What are the main factors that discourage you from going to SPL matches?
