Dunfermline Athletic

Travel To Iceland

Date: Friday, 13th Aug 2004

Press Release: 12 August 2004, from Dunfermline Athletic regarding travel problems

Quote from DAFC Press release:
It has come to DAFC’s attention that the official fans flight scheduled to leave at 9.00 a.m. from Edinburgh airport has failed to materialise.

We are doing all we can to rectify this situation – our official travel agent Sportsfare now have a representative on site and they are diverting 77 of those fans onto a flight due to leave Glasgow at 12.55pm. The remaining fans will leave from Edinburgh later this afternoon and will be shuttled to the Stadium in time for the match.

Sportsfare were recommended to the club by the SFA and have organised official travel for clubs such as Hibernian and Dundee, a key factor in our selection process.

Funds were issued by DAFC to Sportsfare on Monday the 9th August to cover the travel and further payment was made by DAFC on Tuesday 10th August to cover the accommodation costs. DAFC have Bank Statements highlighting these transactions – there is no truth in the rumour that we have not paid the bill.

All our fans can be assured that DAFC are as extremely unhappy about this situation and will be pursuing Sportsfare about this matter.
