Will the club actually lose money?

Was discussing our Borehamwood trip at work today, and I couldn't figure out how we could on this particular trip.
I was figuring the team coach heading down the Fri and a delegation (players, management, directors) of 30? Staying overnight. At £100 a head per night that's £3000. Of the £4000 that clubs got last season that leaves a grand for fuel and an evening meal.
Is that too simplistic? Or are there other costs I'm missing? We may not make any profit but can't see it being a loss.

Edited to add: just read on pie and Bovril that clubs are getting £7000 this season

The flame still burns

Think they only get the 7 grand if they go "overseas" i.e. to Eire or Northern Ireland?

It will probably be very marginal either way. I don't think we should lose sleep about it.

Will the club make lose money- pretty much even

Will the fans have a great weekend away - Definitely

As a football fan, definitely a positive draw. My son will remember his first European away game for years to come.

Whatever it is we lose would be minimal if anything.
That's the whole point of having cash put aside that covers stuff like this, postponed games due to weather etc.

Let's just enjoy the experience

Don't think we will lose out of it by the time the compensation and gate money is paid.

AJ in two minds about the game in today's Dunfermline Press.

He appreciates that some fans might enjoy a change of venue from the regular league games, but questions the benefit and even why such teams are in the competition.

He also stated he would be in support of bigger leagues to allow more variety of matches throughout a season.

I imagine the club has "travel provisions/plans/budget" in place for this season since we have clubs like ICT and Ross County to play in the league which will need overnight stays to prepare for match.

With the provision of additional money being given by the competition, to aid teams crossing borders, I'd guess that we should be OK. Plus we are hopeful to progress and claim a juicy money-spinning tie in next round. (need to be cautious and avoid a potential giant killer first though)

It is always going to be a balancing act, with every penny a prisoner, to ensure that we spend wisely but I think the finance guys/gals have been doing a great job bringing us back from the brink of 2013.

My opinion is that this is our first proper season where we have a good strong team on the pitch to push for promotion whilst we still have some money to utilise.

Last season I don't think we were ready to win promotion (play-off yes, promotion no)
This season.... I think we are ready to go for the big prize!

Should be exciting season anyway

Any link to that Mach 1?? Couldn't find anything online. Would be interested to read the managers thoughts.

Sorry, can't get it online either, but it's on the inside back page if you're near a newsagent lol.

Basically just saying what I've put above. Also wondering why the likes of Boreham Wood are not included in the first round of the competition.

I wonder if Barr's are behind extending this tournament beyond Scotland as a way of promoting their products more widely?

Is the cup actually made out of girders?

Par that is not a stupid suggestion. Barrs could / should have got a metal sculpture made out of mini steel / iron girders instead of a cup.
