up until Saturday he hadn't trained since playing against Inverness, id guess he might play some part in next weeks reserve game if he trains before then.

FT 1-1 positive result against a strong motherwell side. 14 shots on goal to our 2. Higgy getting 80mins game time a real bonus.

"strong Motherwell side " - tell us more

Ryan Bowman and George Newell are first-teamers. Neil McLaughlin was on-loan at Stirling Albion last season and is back at the League 2 club again this campaign. Liam Brown had a term or two in the lower leagues with Queen's Park while Peter Morrison and Broque Watson are regulars in the U20s / Reserve league for 2/3 seasons now. A strong enough side to pit our wits against I'd say considering our squad in general is probably less experienced with many playing only their first or second match as a professional at this level.

Of course, we had Higgy, Connolly, Gill, Morrison and Luke who are all players who have had experience of the first-team environment and our guys aren't pushovers either, but, I think the point being made is that it isn't a predominately U18s side which Stephen Craigan brought with him to Kelty this afternoon and it would've been a good runout for our lads.

cheers burty, yeah main point was a bit of first team experience even if in lower leagues and even 2/3 years of 20s experience in the motherwell ranks compared to Gregor Jordan, Josh Robertson, Kieran Swanson, Lewis Sawers, Matthew Todd, Paul Allan, Lewis McCann within our ranks who are around the 17/18 mark and only recently made the move to club specific training having been at Fife Elite academy.

3 1st XI (Pars) v 2 first XI Motherwell
4 loanees ( pars) v 3 loanees (Well)

with the rest of the players all genuine under 20's with no first team games.

Seems two similar sides to me.

add the extra physicality/size these guys had over us as well as well as the points burty and PP make, tough game but they did alright.

didn't think the "1st teamers" did enough to say I must be picked at the weekend but good they got some game time, any injury is a disappointment but even more so when it could be/looked a bad one for Swanson.

Saw him yesterday, Swifty. He was due to start running today, so hopefully, he'll be available for the ICT game a week on Saturday. It makes no sense to risk him v Boreham Wood. He thought he probably came back too early at Inverness.

First time I’ve seen the reserves (as opposed to the under 20s or whatever).

It was a pretty even game, but Gill was the busier of the two keepers; you felt we were happy with the draw at the end (although a bit of sting had gone out of the game after the injury). It looked a bad one – Watson on the right looks quite pacey and he had put in a cross which Swanson stretched to block and he seemed to fall awkwardly – possibly he collided with the Well player. I think that’s 2 out of the last 3 games I’ve seen there that there has been a bad injury.

The Pars played 3-5-2 – Allen as the CCB with Morrison on his left and Jordan on his right. We tried to play the ball out from the back, which got us into trouble more than once as Well pressed. On the other hand McCann won loads in the air, but could rarely find anyone with his flicks on. Higgy was captain and saw a lot of the ball, but handed the armband to Matty Todd when he went off. I was disappointed with the more experienced players – I expected more from them.

Still, a decent result and one to build on.

It's the fekkin Auldtimer's kicking in, mate. ☹ Actually, it's all the raspers on here posting multiple threads about the Boreham Wood game that made me think the games were the other way round. That's my back up excuse at any rate.
