 Who will play at Borehamwood?
Topic Originator: bournetobeapar
Date:   Sun 2 Sep 18:02

It is pretty much read that AJ was going to put out his second string team with possibly Higgy captaining the team as he did at Inverness.
Would you be tempted to bolster the team with a few 1st team players to get some game time?
The Borehamwood strikers are tall, bulky lads, I can see a few goals in this game.

After yesterday any planned time off or break for a few should be cancelled and get the full first team playing.

Doesn't matter what I'd be tempted to do.... I'm not the manager.
If he's said that he's gonna play a second string then I'd imagine that's exactly what he will do.

The reserves play on the Monday. He won't play the same players twice in 48 hours.Would imagine it will be a strong team and so it should be now.

Williamson and McCann are away, Beadling wont be ready yet

the reserve game will get moved to the Tuesday if need be but it will be a stronger team than that played at Inverness, the only two id expect to start right now are Higginbotham and Muirhead, the rest it could literally be anyone in any shape.

edit: reserve game scheduled after it already been postponed.

The Higgy/Ryan combination has been a trigger for the best run of form for us over almost two years. I'd like to see those two plus a few other first choice players on Saturday.

We might almost outnumber/outshout them on Saturday? there was less than 600 home/away fans there against Braintree yesterday.

Tempted to walk over to Wembley (but another £50+ PP onto the trip!) and see Spain play in the evening?

Would like to see the new guys get a run out. I think muirhead and Ryan upfront could be a good partnership to try. Maybe stick gill and Morrison in the team to start but no more youngsters. Stick a few on the bench instead.

maybe AJ will see this game as a chance to get back to winning ways and may play as strong a team as possible, or treat it as he has done in the past.i think he needs a win here to be honest as another defeat even in this comp will go down like a lead balloon with our support.

I would defo have been up for and on this trip but unfortunately illness and hospital visits stop me going but I hope all that do attend have a great weekend.

First team or it’s a major slap in the face to the people who have forked out a small fortune to go down to Borehamwood to watch them

Would also be tempted to say he needs a win at the weekend to keep his job but then that’s only my opinion

Come on ye pars ⚽️

He’ll play a strong team, no doubt about it IMO. It’s not as if it’s midweek, makes no sense whatsoever to play the young boys, giving the first team players who are playing like a team full of strangers the week off. They need a game, they need a couple of goals and they need a win for confidence going into the Alloa game.

This ”diddy cup” game has now turned into a massive game for AJ Imo. He really can’t afford another poor result. We need a performance to give the team a bit of confidence, going into the Alloa game! Not AJs biggest fan but we need to get right behind the team at a time like this! COYP

Agreed for his blatant as his mistakes have been recently we could do with getting behind the team.

If you're going down to Borehamwood, I'd suggest that you don't let the outcome of the match dictate your enjoyment of the weekend.

I don't think we'll play the strongest XI by any means. It will be a couple of youngsters mixed with first-teamers and guys on the fringes.

It's a good chance for those coming in though. It shouldn't take much for a guy on the sidelines to force his way in to the starting line-up for the league games.

AJ should use the opertunity to play who he thinks is his strongest team .Use these games to get it sorted dont be experimenting against league oposition .
Akso use the reserve league to get his best 11 sorted .Once thats done fall back to the young lads and fringe players .
Priority is identify his best 11 .ASAP .

I think he needs to start the players who are part of the first team squad to give them a run out and check their form. If its a squad game squad players need to be playing otherwise there will be a morale issue. Given the poor run of results everyone needs to be hungry to play, see their opportunity and take it. You dont want to chanve things too much as it can backfire on you. Tbose in the forst team frame should be playing. Its going to be a long tough season ahead and we need to be behind the team and manager for every game.

AJ said in his preview that one or two players had 'niggles' and wouldn't be risked. He also said it would probably be about 6 weeks before Lewis Martin and Aiden Keena were available after recovering from their ops.

According to the SFA website Andy Ryan is only suspended for one Reserve game following his sending-off at Kilmarnock so he will be available tomorrow if fit.

The referee is Evan Boyce. His assistants are Williams and Evans so they may all be Welsh.
