 Stubbs

So it looks like Stubbs could be out at St Mirren. Another club where a manager comes in, gets rid of everyone, replaces them with players who aren't any better, doesn't work out, gets sacked and then new manager comes in with a full squad of sub-standard players he doesn't want.

Bit of a blow for St. Mirren after last season's great success.

Bit of a knee jerk decision, they haven't given him enough time, games away to Sevco and Hearts we not the bench mark to take at this stage

Sacking a manager after league games is lunacy

It's a ridiculously short time to give a new manager.

To be fair though, it looked like a horrific appointment at the time. They're obviously just cutting their losses.

It's hard if owners and fans have no patience.

Jack Ross managed an exceptional season. It's difficult to maintain such a standard especially in the higher league.

St Mirren aren't very good at appointing managers. Since they sacked Danny Lennon in 2014 they have had 6 managers and only Jack Ross lasted more than one year and wasn't sacked. The others were Tommy Craig (7 months), Gary Teale (6 months), Ian Murray (7 months), Alex Rae (9 months) and Alan Stubbs (3 months). I wonder if they'll get it right next time.

Said at the time that Stubbs was a dreadful appointment. His cup win at Hibs glossed over some poor league performances and Lennon has shown how to get a lot of the same players performing to their potential. St Mirren's owners and fans do seem to have ideas above their station though. Remember when they took over and the ex player who was involved said they could win the Premier League by 2019 or something? Mental.

That was Tony Fitzpatrick who managed them in the 90s. He's a bit of a buffoon but I'm sure he's their chief executive?

Fitzpatrick used to manage them and said similar things throughout the time he did so.

Completely deluded, but I quite admired his boundless optimism.

Yeh Tony Fitzpatrick. Their “Leishman” but at least our version doesn’t put ridiculous amounts of pressure on managers and players by coming out with “top 6 is the target in the premier league”.

Stubbs was a stupid appointment. Some of the stories coming out of Paisley would make you despair. It is interesting though how some managers get a very easy ride through the media (especially bbc) compared to others. Old pals act very obvious at times.

3 year deal is pretty brave given their recent hiring and firing.
