16 teams left in the competition.

From Scotland:-

Motherwell u21s
The Pars
QoS
Arbroath
Montrose
Alloa
East Fife
Edinburgh City
Ross County
St Mirren u21s
Queens Park

From elsewhere:-

Sutton Utd
Connah's Quay
Bohemians
Coleraine
Sligo Rovers

One third of the teams The Pars could get are from outside Scotland. Do people fancy another trip or would you settle for EEP or even Paisley?

I recon the fans would love another trip to far flung places, the club probably would not

Decent chance of lifting a trophy when you see who are left in.

They're all at weekends. If we and/or Ross County were to reach the final both of our away games against them will have to be shifted to mid-weeks.

This is crucial. Unless the SFA somehow make it more attractive financially for the Scottish clubs to take part, there's a risk the clubs will vote it down even though the away trips have caught fans' imaginations.

Scottish clubs should be better compensated for these games. Not saying fully as every away game costs the club money but I believe this trip cost in excess of £10000 and we were compensated just £3500.
As was said , it was clearly an adventure for the fans though so I hope they stick with this formula.

There is a decent chance, and I would like to win it once before never being ineligible to compete.

Ross County or Sutton must be favourites though.

Scrub Sutton I was thinking of Salford. Ross County will win it.

50% of the gate after the home clubs 15% expenses allowance.
That with the 3.5k should cover it. I dont know what the progression bonus is but I dont think we lost money.

If Radio Scotland is to be believed we lost somewhere between 7 & 8k for this game.

Even if it is £7k, it’s hardly worth crying about. They won’t have budgeted for 5000 jambos at £18 a head. Hope we get another away game in the next round, although my bank balance and liver are screaming no.

They were basing that on the squad staying 2 nights. They only stayed 1 night.

I understood they didn't stay any nights?
Flew down Saturday morning , back in the evening hence the early kick off.

I agree with the team building exercise and the away trip would have been a fantastic outing for the fans ( I was in London too, but couldn't go to the game)
What really rips my knitting is clubs losing money while the tournament sponsors are making millions in profits.
IMO, sponsors should be ensuring that clubs don't lose money to play in their tournaments. I'm not saying that clubs should make a profit out of every game, but they shouldn't lose money to help advertise for sponsors. I'd go one step further and say that sponsors should organise travel and accommodation for teams playing in their tournaments too.

I know some will say that it'll balance itself out as teams progress, but revenue would have been lost if we had been knocked out at the weekend.

Joab done though, so here's hoping we get a money spinning home game in the next round.

I can't see any "money-spinning home game" in the potential opponents!

We are the biggest supported team left in the Irn Bru cup. Any home game would be our own crowd plus a few others, Alloa V Dunfermline would potentially draw a bigger crowd than any other tie.

Our own fans at home, stanza. IMO, we in terms of fan base are one of, if not the biggest team left in the tournament.
A home tie would help recoup some of the monies we spent playing in deepest darkest England.

Perhaps you're right, WORST. I'm just not sure how much profit there would actually be in a reduced-prices tie where the away team gets a cut of the receipts.

This competition is a waste of time if the clubs can't actually profit from it.

Depending on fixtures , the team can profit from it through bonus money and I dont know the figure off hand but I'm sure the winner gets a good pay day even outside of attendance.

Last season the total prize money across all competing clubs was only £335k-not sure of the breakdown but considering there are about 40 teams competing the prize money will be low I would imagine.
