To be fair, I reckon I could round up 10 mates and we'd give a decent account of ourselves against a bunch of guys that can't get in the Dundee team.

While we may have fielded a strong side, the opponents line up was not too shabby. We must have played well. Does anyone who attended want to provide a wee update on some individual performances e.g. Williamson, Beadling, Devine, Muirhead and Hippolyte. Ta

There is a killing to be made at the bookies if you can find out what the teams are first and lump on

Bet365 mate. They have all the reserve leagues. The price came in to 5/2 just before kick off

After seeing the team i looked on sky bet and we were even money at 1-0 up. Went to put some money on and we scored almost instantly and the odds drifted. Opportunity missed

Everyone played well. Muirhead's second goal was excellent - scored from a tight angle. He caused Dundee problems with his strength. Thomson and Hippolyte also had good games. Devine stood out in the defence. This performance must give AJ food for thought for Saturdays team selection.

I was there and it was a good game in difficult conditions.Dundee were passing the ball out from the back with quick one touch passing which was their undoing for the first goal when McCann intercepted one and finished really well. Ryan W played well going forward and set up two good cutbacks which we should have scored from not so good defensively though.Devine and Morrison very solid at the back and Beadling very good in the middle of the park and Thomson also very good driving forward from the middle. Muirhead scored a cracker third goal cutting in from the left and curling it in at far postage corner, got booked for moaning at ref. and was then subbed. Hippo usual performance, tried to grab first pen from Beadling but got the next one which was very soft.

Pars deserved the win but we gifted the first goal with this passing out from the back crap. Those two second half penalties were gifts from the ref. That first one was almost laughable, with the Dunfermline player slipping on the turf and the ref pointing to the spot.
Almost as laughable was Hippolyte spitting out the dummy when Beadling wouldn't let him take the spot kick. He stopped crying when he got to take the second (very soft) one.
I'd never bet on these reserve games. You never know what team is going to turn up with half a dozen first teamers. We stuffed Rangers 4-0 when they put out a young side and we had a few more experienced players on.

It was almost a Gozi and Moff affair at the first pen except Beadling stuck to his guns and refused to let Hipolyte get the ball.
The latter’s behaviour was embarrassing.

More importantly, how did the great Tom Beadling look - and did he play the full 90?

Beadling lasted the 90. “Our” Brian Rice was at St Mirren, but I assume he left when Gus MacPherson arrived to assist the new boss. I think Calum Smith was there to watch.

Both teams looked organised and competent, but we had more “senior” players, which always seems to make a big difference. There doesn’t appear to be a lot in it, then suddenly there is an error, or a touch of class, and there’s a goal. Repeat 3 or 4 times and it looks like a gubbing.

I’m never quite sure what the aim of these matches is:

• Ready first team squad members for first team action
• Develop the youth
• Get a result

Probably a bit of all three. In some ways the third is the least important, but it’s good to develop a winning mentality, and a result like that helps contribute to creating a positive atmosphere around the club.

Better players were those you’d expect – Devine, Beadling, Williamson, Muirhead. The younger lads were a little anonymous, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – they did their job. Todd was more defensive than usual, and I’m not sure I’d see Paul Allen at left back before, but I guess it’s all part of the learning process.
