 MOTM
Topic Originator: TAFKA_Super_Petrie

One of those days where nobody really had a poor game.

Ryan ran his bollocks off, was a general nuisance and his first touch - which is often poor IMO - was very good and he got a well deserved goal.

Longridge absolutely strolled it and seems to be getting a good understanding built up on that left flank with Connolly.

Overall though i would say Martin again. Great compsosure on the ball, rarely wasted a pass and always kept it simple when it needed to be. Makes it look so easy at times.

Great performance all round. Ryan and Faiss led the line well, the boys on the left were too good for them, Martin ran the show from the middle. Gonna give the nod to Durnan, a rock at the back and great distribution, always looking to start another attack. Great stuff today!

Every player got pass marks today.
I thought Craigen had a great game but think Martin just edges it. Strolled it

I thought Mark 'Donkey' Durnan had another good game. His use of the ball is pretty good for a centre back. There were lots of good performances today.

Hard one to call. Martin does add a touch of class, Vincent broke up play well and the front two put in a hell of a shift today. Defence coped with what little Falkirk offered and wide men tormented them all day. Even hipolyte put in a very effective performance. Mom was the guy doing the crossbar challenge for extending my smile into the second half or Durnan who continued where he left off on Friday.

Martin for me followed by Vincent. Not sure how Beadling can get a start with the midfield looking as good as it does now.

Really pleased for Durnan. He must be delighted AJ eventually saw the light with 3 at the back.

Martin for me, didn't waste a ball all day and was always available.

Thought Durnan, Fais, Ryan, Vinny and craigan went far behind.

Martin followed by Ryan, but that was one very poor Falkirk team.

Martin followed by Vincent. The defence had their easiest game of the season because the two infront had an absolute stormer!

Couldn't seperate Ryan, Martin or Vincent. Connolly played well again and the defence were solid enough.

Not Martin for me. Struggled to get about the pitch. Vincent on other hand was everywhere and gets his first MOM from me this season.

If you're waiting on Malaury Martin to "get about the pitch", you're going to be disappointed every week. Levein specifically doesn't want him as he doesn't run around like a madman.

The ball comes to him, he plays it to a Pars player, he gets it back, passes to another Pars player, etc, etc.

It's a quality rarely seen in this league.

Martin for me. A class act. Composed and assured throughout the match. Let other midfielders win the ball and let Martin find the perfect pass.

“Doesn’t get about the pitch”

Wow. You let the ball do the work. Martin is a class act. Keeps it simple. Dictates the tempo. The type of player we’ve been crying out for.

I think it shows AJ's thinking when he brought in Willo Flood for his week at the club.

Exactly. Barry Ferguson did exactly that for Rangers

There's those on .net who know a bit about fitba like DA-go, the legend and Socks

There's those like me who freely admit to knowing very little.

Then there's 1981par

Technically brilliant. Playing against a energetic midfielder he might struggle.

If you watch Martin for any spell you'll see he does actually get around the pitch quite well - maybe not in an all-action, goes everywhere sense but he's always available for a pass when one of our players has the ball. Its quite the skill to have actually, being available and finding that 5 yard pocket of space when it's quite right in the middle. There were a few times yesterday in particular where he and Jackson Longridge managed to get themselves out of a tight corner by playing little 5 yard passes then expanding it across to Ashcroft or Durnan, from which we were able to get it to our more forward thinking players or across to Criagan.

The likening I am making is his style of play. Beckenbauer didn't run about but could pick out a pass with perfection. ;-)

That's right. That kind of player has enough vision and football sense to let the ball do a lot of the work.
Bobby Murdoch, Bobby Moore, Jim Baxter, Danny Blanchflower were others in that mould.
