 French national anthem....
Topic Originator: PAR57
Date:   Sun 7 Oct 12:41

Well after the performances of Monsieur Martin over the last few games, I was most upset that the Pars fans did not give out a rendition of the French national anthem.....I admit I did hum a few lines on the way out of the "Bairnabeu" stadium yesterday...LOL.....I got some funny looks mind you !!!!.....SO how about it guys ???? Imagine how it would feel when you are running about the field of play in a foreign country and a whole squad of Pars fans started singing La Marseillaise..........

Uplifting and stirring anthem, remember French fans belting it out when they were evacuated during a terror attack.
God Save the Queen or Flour of Scotland stale and as stirring as a pot of cold porridge.

Should have used self raising flower perhaps ?

Like the Russian one as well, great. German and American too, something that builds up to a whatever musical term is for rousing finish...

Scotland the Brave is far more uplifting than the death dirge that was dumped on us without any kind of vote. I really hate FoS

La Marseillaise, best anthem going, Faiss would also enjoy it I think, but can't think of a better anthem than Flower of Scotland for us.

La Marseillaise is top drawer, but probably too revolutionary for our tepid times. Lots of aristocrats' blood being spilled in ditches by the peasants kind of thing. The sort of song that might make Rees-Mogg and Johnson a bit nervous, which is another reason why it is so good, apart from the uplifting sound.

There is absolutely nothing good about it. Anything would be better.
Its morbid, its cringeworthy, its historically a load of pihs. Its dreary, downbeat and just utterly crap.
We have qualified for f all since we adopted it.
Well apart from 1 rugby grand slam.
Nobody can sing it in time with whatever band is trying to play it. Friggin disaster of an anthem.

I don't mind FoS. Not great for an anthem but I can't think of an alternative up lifting song that folk could sign along with.

I quite like the Welsh anthem.

Fos is always stirring at Murrayfield but a dirge at Hampden.

It can only be good with the pipe and drums and I hate it when it is sung by an individual. It just doesn’t work.

When it is played overseas at a game with a couple of trumpets and a set of symbols it is cringeworthy . ...tonight will be the perfect example of that. The players standing their looking miserable does not help.

At least the rugby boys give it gusto.

I think we should steal something off the darts that we don't even have to bother singing to when we're banjoed. Zombie Nation or Chase the Sun seem to be crowd pleasers.

Nothing will ever beat the Italian anthem!

Why not play the French one over our muffled tannoy as we leave? It can't be more boring than the tedious" Bluebell polka".

In any case it was "Whistling Rufus" and not "Bluebell Polka" played at every game in the 1960s.Just saying.

Remember Lionel Charbonier being reduced to tears when the currant buns sang his name to La Marseillaise . Was pretty cool when sung at such volume

Same rules apply

I wouldn't sing it if you paid me. Incidentally, if we were independent we would still have the same monarch.
I wouldnt sing God save the queen either. Unless I was in a tranny bar maybe.
