Israel are a poor side but having just seen our team sheet I can't claim that we're world beaters ourselves (probably why we're in each other's group).

Think we might edge this but preparing for this to fall under the "Not a classic" description.

We are probably better than Israel but this is exactly the type of fixture that Scotland are brilliant at losing. Away to some made up country in the middle of nowhere 🤨

Don’t think the back 3/5 is working, ring any bells ?

I would take odonnel off put Tierney at right back and bring forest on right midfield and put Mcgrgor on the left.

No idea if that would help or not though....basically a 442.

A point away to Israel is a great result for us, let's be honest.

We're nowhere near the standard to expect to go to places like there and win.

It's sad that's the case, but we're gash and not going to improve unless we get our hands on a competent manager who has a more positive outlook.

We need to stop hiring dinosaurs man.

Painfull to watch Scotland limp through this game, we have been chasing this game from 1/2 way through the first half

If we get anything at all from this embarrassment then Israel will be right to feel aggrieved

It opitomises all that is wrong with Scittish football (“typo but will leave it in as it’s even more apt that what I meant to type”) from grass roots level to what we embarrassingly call “international” football

Like Darren Fletcher said in the studio, 3-5-2 is a specialist formation that takes a lot of practice and ultimately having the right players.Very hard when you are an international manager that can't work with players very long and you have a small pool of sufficient players, like in Scotland's case

Robertson suits coming from deep in a back 4, bit like the Williamson issue we have in 3-5-2 and Tierney is a left back. We are ruining both players trying to accommodate both of them. Also forcing the team into a formation that is highly unpredictable in how we play. Lots of parallels with the DAFC struggles with that formation. I know we don't have much talent to choose from but we have enough to beat Israel. Management and formation was the reason we churned out that disgrace tonight.

I found it very worrying when an untried coach at any level ( McFadden ) was giving advice to McLeish during the game.

The manager looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights just staring into space with no idea what to do.

I honestly think he has something wrong with him. His comment before the game about not expecting to win the game easily was an incredibly stupid thing to say.

He has lost the plot and should never have been appointed.

I would not be bothered if he was sacked tomorrow.

After that inept performance he should be but no doubt the SFA will soldier on with him until we inevitably fail to qualify again.

The only thing he got right tonight was insisting the players sang the national anthem, well all but one.

You will win nothing with passion alone and I don’t doubt he has it in bucket loads , but as a tactician, nope he is hopeless.

30 or 40 years ago, there would have been a reasonable expectation among Scots that we would approach double figures in a game like this, such was the talent and skills gap.

In the decades since, many of the footballing minnows have come on leaps and bounds while Scotland has regressed at a frightening rate, indeed to the point where we have become a minnow ourselves.

Could it be that poor leadership, complacency and neglect are the primary reasons that this has happened?

Like widtink I gave up on them years ago. I haven't really cared about their results.

IMO, we should get a group of about 30 teenage players and continually use them regardless of the results. Those players will gel with each other and become a future well drilled outfit.
When these lads either hit a certain age, say 30 year old, or get past it, drop them add new teenagers to the squad.
I've no doubt I'll be roundly attacked for this attitude, but I think it's time for some radical changes.

If you have a connection to the old firm then that’s good enough for the SFA.

Somebody please press the reset button and start again.

Two of the best young left backs in Britain, a very promising right back, play them all out of position.
The man is a tactical genius, at some point he’ll have everyone bar the keeper doing the same, then you’ll eat your words..

McLeish seriously needs to get to Falkirk. I was happier with Strachan. Obviously he was useless as well but still light years ahead of this absolute diddy. Rank rotten

When I watched it last night I thought that it was Falkirk v Dunfermline. The Scotland team played like a team of headless chickens and Israel struggled to get more than two goals.

Lets face it, demands are a new manager immediately and fresh faces. Fresh meaning take the talent of the younger players and develop them. This team as it is will never get us to the next world cup finals, that is the real target.

Scottish football/talent is gash and has been for 20 years at least. Blame to-days coaching and the obsession with keeping the ball and not making mistakes.

The Scottish player if he could do nothing else could dribble. Once you beat the first man the pass becomes easy - I knew that as a kid.

If it was up to me I would have kids forgetting about ball retention and concentrating on dribbling and shooting.
Our players are unable to withstand pressure because we are playing a game that is foreign to us.

When are we going to learn?

That's what Higgy does. He gets pelters from a fair amount of fans for it.
Hes not going to pull it off every time but I like watching him more than the ball retention stuff. I get that its important to keep the ball but at some point someone has to have a go at the defence.
Modern defences seem to have the tippy tappy approach sussed and it is very difficult to break down a defence that is evenly matched to the attack. Makes for a borefest.

Get the dribblers on.

I thought we looked quite good against Albania but it was a very bad performance last night.

I won't go overboard about either just yet. McLeish's job is to get us to Euro 2020. Probably best to judge him on that rather than on his 2nd competitive game in charge.

Those screaming for Strachan's head do look a bit daft now though. Mind you, they will be shouting just as loud for McLeish's sacking now.

There seems to be a set group of posters whose sole purpose in life is to get football managers the sack. AJ and most previous Pars managers, Strachan, Levein, Vogts, McLiesh, even English and further afield.

Same posters every time. Is it a syndrome of some sort?

Clubs and football associations don’t sack managers based on a few roasters spouting garbage on a football forum .

O'Neill, Moyes, Bielsa, Bilic, Prandelli, someone of that ilk. At least I was hopeful the SFA would take this seriously.

They did take it seriously. They tried to get O'Neill - very publically - and it backfired spectacularly.

Remember who is running our game. Would you trust them to get a better manager than Strachan?

I thought Strachan had us in the best form we'd seen in a decade. It was daft not keeping him on.

I genuinely thought Scotland were performing at a level befitting of the standard of player we have got.

When we did decide to twist rather that stick, I thought it would be for a younger manager and indeed they did go for Michael O'Neill. McLeish was was a panic cheap option after the SFA put all their eggs in that basket.

Ye, we're not that attractive an option for the big names but we should be expecting something a bit more inspiring that Big Eck. As Kelty has pointed out above, there are much more capable managers out there we could've approached. Eck is best mates with one of the head parasites at SFA, That's the way it works at that rotten shambolic association.

I wouldn't want anyone to jump to conclusions but I believe his agent is a very close relative of Big Eck and no relation whatsoever to our very own wee eck....☺

Sadly we are where we are. First round of fixtures done and we're top, would have taken that at the start.

We'll beat Israel at home.. Albania away though..

That was as bad as i can remember.

Good points were Johnny Russell in the first half. Said it before but beggars belief why someone of that ability and in peak of his career is playing in the MLS.

Was there, and plenty think those who go are happy clappers. Far from it, it took 10mins for us and those around us to see we were going to struggle. The desperation to play Tierney / Robertson and that McGinn has became world class by moving to the Championship.Being a Pars supporter you get to suffer the ups and downs, but it does not make it any easier. Guys around us were on their phones backing Israel at half time, it was so obvious to everyone, McCleish apart. That they had our number. Sad thing is, by the time I am heading to Albania, will have convinced myself we will win. Exactly the same for us on a weekly basis. Can see their only being 15,000 against Portugal. Ps 2017 played 6 qualifiers winning 4 drawing 2, against 3 higher ranked teams.

We kinda mucked up by going to Haifa...Tel Aviv was great pals who we met up with. Haifa was ok, a busy working city, size of Dundee, built on a mountain. We stayed right next the Bahia Gardens, German Colony, avenue lined with restaurants. Felt safe in city, did not see one police officer. Wee underground railway and shopping centres you get bags searched. People friendly. Haifa very mixed, Jewish and Arab cultures side by side. Traffic nuts. Expensive, pint between 6 and 8 quid. Eating same, meal in bar or restaurant around 25/30 quid. Beaches great, though not something I do. Was told security getting in and out would be a nightmare. We flew via Berlin El Al, taken to side, few questions, easy. Coming back less than 5 mins through doors of terminal, security sitting having breakfast. 80 hrs total between leaving house / flights / beer / culture..pal drove us straight to airport after game for very early flight. Stay in Tel Aviv, railways first class and cheap. Not a place everyone would visit I understand, but saw Scotland get humped in Asia now.

philltwo..

was there also. Tel Aviv was an incredible place to stay. Less said about the game the better really. The fans certainly let the players know how they felt at full time. It was an almost ashamed walk from most of them towards us. And the Fud from the SFA standing laughing in our direction is an utter disgrace I hope someone knows who it was and something is done about it.
