 Scotland v Portugal

We go again. Even though it's pretty much a Portugal reserve side this will be tricky. Hopefully we're a bit more solid with the 4 4 2. Not a bad start so far though.

Missed the first half hour. Didn’t realise the game was on this early. 1-0 down on the strike of half time. Even when we are doing ok we are a disaster.

0 1 Portugal. Bit harsh on Scotland as we've done ok so far although it's very much being played as a friendly.

The goal was a bit harsh , but for me it all started from Mcburnie not being able to control a ball and of course we get caught on the counter !
0'donnell too far up the park plus he should have done better to stop the ball coming in
suppose we are doing ok playing against a Portugal reserve team
he ho its the same old story
Portugal are really there for the taking

Agree with all of that. The analysis on where O'Donnell made his mistakes by Fletcher pretty much nailed where it went wrong defensively. An improved performance but it's been helped by the fact Portugal aren't really going for it.

About three Portugal players lost their markers at that one. Good header but terrible defending.

We look awful under McLeish. I just can’t get my head round the SFA employing someone who no fan wanted. Robertson even looks bang average in this team. Like Dunfermline, I feel we have such a good team on paper and we should be doing a lot better than we are just now.

The reality is, and this is painful to say, but we are now minnows. We are deluding ourselves that we are in any way relevant. We’re we ever that great in the first place? Competition records will tell you we’ve always been useless.

We have been for a while now. It's also reflected at club level in Europe.

Thank god its a Portugal reserve team who are only going about their business in 2nd gear !!
And i totally don't understand why the SFA appointed Mcleish the Scotland Managers job but i suppose its the usual thing of Jobs for the Boys and save cash
we are absolute murder

Actually thinking about it we're maybe not quite minnow status yet as we are still slightly above the Faroes, Andorra, Lichtenstein and Gibraltar etc but possibly the tier above that.

To be fair that's an excellent goal by Naismith. Good build up with a lucky break and great back heel. Doesn't gloss over the rest but a good goal none the less.

What is Kevin McDonald? What does he offer apart from being a big lump? Also, why did Tierny drop out due to playing too many games this season but Callum mcgregor stayed? Doesn’t he play for Celtic every week too? Griffiths no wanting to play too. It’s seems as if The Scotland camp isn’t a great place right now.

Wow. Scotland 1-0 v Portugal.

Ha.ha.

Turned the tv on in the 93nd minute so was spared the tedium of watching the rest of the game.

Really concerned about Ecks mental state. He has come out with some particularly worrying nonsense of late.

I'm not sure he's well. Seems a bit detached to me.

Looks like a wise decision to go for a Portugal and Montenegro double.

I said after Mcleish was appointed that he has gone a bit behind the eyes. Maybe all those head knocks as a player have finally caught up with him? I dunno but his ducks are definitely not in a row. It’s hard to tell as he’s always been brutal to listen to when he talks.

We are, and have been a pot 3 team for decades. It wont change until there is radical change in the domestic game.

See, I’m no sure how accurate that is, parrot. Look at Northern Ireland, Iceland, or Albania. Their domestic leagues are poor yet they’ve qualified for a recent tournament. Even Croatia’s league isn’t great yet they continually churn out world class players and get to World Cup finals. I believe it’s a mental thing. We accept failure as part of our national make up. I also believe that there’s not enough pride in playing for Scotland. That probably isn’t helped by the fact that our two biggest domestic clubs have some sort of identity crisis. Particularly Celtic and their fans. I don’t think I’ve ever known a Scotland fan who supported Celtic. Are people ashamed to be Scottish? They have to pretend they’re something else? More Celtic fans support Ireland than rangers support England.
We live in a strange country where people don’t know who they are.

A bit like watcginv the pars with the nanager giving similar types of interviews after the games .

No firepower up front and defence looks like conceeding every game .

Prwtty patterns made with negative passing .
