I'm not a Bazza fan, but that's a coup for Kelty to get a name like that.

There is obviously quite a lot of money around the team, with some of their players being on pretty decent wages.

He'll have three assistants, including Bob Malcolm, according to Radio Scotland.

Not sure of his managerial qualities, but his name will attract a lot of publicity.
I don't know what the limit is for a small village team like Kelty, but look at what Gretna and Ross County have achieved albeit on the back of one man's bankroll.

Made some demands to the committee, they never agreed to them all and he offered to resign. Club accepted he tried to then backtrack a bit and we are where we are. Trying hard to get either Airdrie or Stirling jobs

We hear endlessly about Kelty Hearts' ambition and facilities.

The fact remains Kelty has a population of 7500.

It is East Kilbride ,with more than 100K ,that would benefit League 2.

Large percentage of them will already support other teams (Rangers/Celtic for example)?

I'd doubt that getting into division 2 would put that many more on the home gates of these teams. Cumbernauld is another town in the lowland league who have a far bigger population than Kelty but they don't get huge crowds either. Cumbernauld and East Kilbride potentially could have far bigger crowds than Kelty based on population but I'd doubt that any of them would average more than a few hundred tops.

Was about to post the same. Almost every town in the West is a hotbed of OF fans, with very few opting to follow their local team. The new towns are the best/worst examples, due to the Glasgow roots of large swathes of their populations. We're relatively lucky in Dunfermline, where Pars fans just about hold their own in relation to the two big Glasgow clubs.

Not your average Sunday League player.

I'd be surprised if the same didn't apply to Kelty-I would say they also have an element of Old Firm fans and fans of other clubs?

Wouldn’t the high percentage of NewCo fans in and around Kelty be a major factor in bringing in Baza?

Probably. Very smart step in their development.
There is more stability here than at Gretna. All the Gretna eggs were in a basket that grew too full too fast and the basket burst when the farmer died and nobody caught it as it fell.

I think there will be a large contingent of Rangers and The Rangers so called supporters, afterall most of the people you see wareing their tops haven't been any where near Ibrox and this will be the closest they get. I would expect to see a few union jacks on display also, looking at the Kelty facebook a few of them have posted on there already..

That would be a shame if the mindless unwashed decided to start follow-following Kelty. I suppose their heads could be turned by seeing a club with a bit more history and heritage than they are used to

Brookes Mileson took ove Gretna and told everyone that folk would come from as far away as Carlisle to support them.

They didn't.Six years later he was bankrupt and the club was bankrupt.

Does population not trump money? Ross County is a millionaire's plaything.Dingwall has a population the same as Inverkeithing.

What if their Chairman, who meddled disastrously in Managerial appointments ,loses interest in the Club? What future do these clubs have?Does he have an enthusiastic successor?Brookes didn't.

When Ross County came to East End their support was negligible.

If East Kilbride entered League 2 their 100K plus population has potential.Does little Kelty?

Mind you a name like Hearts and playing in maroon, just like a minny Rangers team across the water. I take it they were founded by a jambo.

He didn't go bankrupt, he died.
He was only declared bankrupt later when someone he was due money to tried to get it back but his estate had already been dealt with so there was nothing left to pay out.

The forerunner to Kelty Hearts were called Kelty Rangers and were a junior team. When they folded, Kelty Hearts were formed as an amateur team, then later junior, before the recent change.

Mileson sold his car hire business to Helphire for x amount of millions, they were based in Stirling.
Helphire supplied courtesy cars for no fault accidents and I drove for them 2/3 days a week, delivering everything from Corsas up to Ferraris. Milesons stock was mainly Transits and Helphire also inherited their staff who were on low wages. They also had to migrate to Loanhead which didn't go down well, but it ended my work there due to overstaffing.

Be interesting to see how they go today, been a few “non league” teams get through and play decent sides, a hard ask against a team doing well in the their league though. Imagine drawing Kelty in the next round at East End.

Dingwall has managed to have a top football club with a population of just 5500.

Ross County are, as the name states are a county team and draw their support from the various towns and villages in Rosshire There are supporters clubs and buses from Ullapool , Invergordon etc
