 Big Brother Censorship?
Topic Originator: CrossPar
Date:   Sun 21 Oct 16:06

Anyone explain why a post I recently submitted entitled "Action Required" has been removed? It contained no profanity, childlike mudslinging or the like of what is found on here, just my honest opinion of what the club needs to do. It had been viewed by around 80 people and then mysteriously disappeared. Have you taken it off admin?

Was that the one that included a statement along the lines of 'I don't know what his targets were but, if he met them, they were far too low.'

Classic.

It's ridiculous if that is a reason to remove a post.

Aye, Dave. It's so noticeable how busy this forum is after a poor result and relatively quiet after a win. Not only the volume of traffic, but the burgeoning number of threads, as well.

It's almost us if some of us are only happy when we've got something to greet about..... 🤔

So that's why it was removed, because some people didn't like it.

GG, see when I greet, it usually means that I am unhappy about something, the opposite to your inference in the above post.

I know mach1, I was just being a smartass. As Pars fans, we're all hurting right now - just some of us come at it from different directions. Not saying I'm right and your wrong, but staying positive has served me well throughout my whole life so I'm going to stick with it.

Besides, there are far more important things in life than football and the results of one particular team. We lost a game we should have won - take it on the chin and move on. The manager and his players will have another chance to atone for that in 6 days time. I hope they grab it.

Edit. I think it was removed because in Admin's opinion it duplicated existing threads unnecessarily.

Fair comment GG.

Just have to say that along with a few others, I have no real appetite for more of the same.

I've got an under 12 season ticket for my grandchild too, but just can't raise the enthusiasm to take her at the moment.

Please tell me you've not made an executive decision on your granddaughter's behalf? She might want to go, in spite of your lack of enthusiasm. There'll be a good atmosphere next week with a decent away support. The last time we had that the Pars made a pretty decent fist of it v Hearts.

Given that she is only 7 years old and doesn't have a father and her mother has only ever been to a handful of games, I'm afraid I do make those executive decisions.

She also has a pretty short attention span, so waiting too long for any excitement would bore her even more than me.

Maybe I'll take her nearer Xmas time, by which time Mother Goose might have laid our golden egg.

So move it then, don't delete it. If I have taken the time to post my opinion on a discussion forum, I don't expect it to be censored on a technicality. If, on your own admission, there are already multiple posts on the subject, why have the others been tolerated? It's a really poor show when you delete serious posts and allow some of the inane childish rubbish that goes on in this forum.

One thing I have learned from supporting Dunfermline is that fifers in general are miserable and at their most comfortable when moaning.

Well that's some generalisation.

Maybe you could tell us which region of the country is the happiest, or the least likely to moan.

If you're serious, you're a wally, if not, then well fished.

I'd agree with that, I've had a few yellows for swearing but some posters get away with absolute murder. Posted on here for 11 years too so I'm not exactly some random newby

It can't be easy being a dad as well as a granddad, mach1. I did it with my two granddaughters on holiday for two weeks this summer and was knackered and relieved when tneir dad came out to join us. Short attention spans are common enough in adults never mind kids. I still think you should always ask her if she'd like to come before every game, but bring along something to occupy her ( a phone or tablet?) in case she gets really bored.

We were far worse in the basement league when I started bringing my own kids. They were asking me what the score was and "Is it finished yet?" every 5 mins. ☹
