David Laming is good on the counter and would not have done worse than the Subs last week.

As much as I like Faissal, it's time to look at other options.

Try and freshen things up a bit this week.

Players In:

-Need Williamson back in as we miss his attacking threat on the right.

-Durnan hopefully being fit again as he looked to be coming onto a game.

-Thompson in a central attacking role. A player willing to (and having the ability to) shoot from range when needed. (Not really sure how he's fell out of favour).

-Hippolyte thrown in on the left of the 3 attacking midfielders. Hot and cold season for Hippo but if he's in the mood like he was when he came on at Falkirk he is a massive threat.

Players Out:

- Devine didn't do much wrong last week so maybe a bit harsh but we look more solid with the Durnan and Ashcroft partnership.

- Vincent. Was a bit of a toss up between him and Martin as something needs changed in the middle but I feel Martin gets us moving forward more and uses the ball better (I realise he was caught on the ball for the Queens goal on Saturday before anyone starts.)

- Connelly. Again, maybe a bit harsh but a useful addition for Hippolyte at half time if he is having an off game.

- Faiss. Pains me to say it but things haven't been coming off for him. He adds a lot to the team as can be seen when he was taken off on Saturday but a return of zero goals in 9 league games isn't good enough and probably time to freshen things up.

Players Keeping there Spots:

- Robinson/Ashcroft/J Longridge all been pretty consistent. Probably the only 3 positions not up for debate.

- Craigen moved back into a central role.

- Ryan probably the most clinical of our strikers.

Not to sure if the likes of Beadling and Muirhead are ready to be thrown in and can't see AJ taking chances on them going on the Pars Review report from Tuesdays reserve game. Would be good to get another look at Keena again but most likely from the bench again.

Needs to be a winning side or surely AJ is a goner!

I'm finding it really hard to pick a team although knowing AJ, nothing will change. Think we are a bit static in the middle, we don't have much drive (and yes, I understand that Martin and Vincent perform specific roles that they do fairly well) which means we don't have many runners coming into the box to get on the end of our non-existent crosses.
I think we need to get Beadling or Thompson back in the middle, someone who can get box to box and offers a bit more of an attacking threat.
Think up front, we need a change, whether that be dropping both strikers or trying a different partnership as Ryan and FEB clearly don't work. Like the idea of Ryan/Keena/FEB playing off Muirhead although it still remains to be seen if he is fit(ter) after his first few games where he looked way off the pace.
I also think we miss Williamson down the right. Craigen has performed well but may be more suited to moving back centrally in midfield.

A few decisions to make for AJ for the Dundee Utd game but I look forward to cheering the team on!!

I really don't see there being too many changes - as is usual with AJ.

Durnan will come in for Devine if he is fit.
Thompson might come in for one of the two central mids,
I think Craigen will stay at left back given he did well there up at United
Maybe Muirhead or Hippo will come in for one of the strikers but I don't see him changing both.

Higgy and Beadling might get a cameo towards the end of the game depending on how its going.

Either way - hope its going to be better than a lot of folk fear, lol COYP!

Lacking the personal for any width (hippo not a winger and not a striker so not any use anywhere in our system) so might as well try and get some from williamson. Zero pace I that team but at least muirhead will have more chance with our long punts and actually getting it to someone in a pars top.

We are 100% relying on united coming and having a go at us, if they sit in we'll gift them the points similar to last week.

First goal is huge.

Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!

Any news on Lewis Martin? Thought he came on very well last year but think he's been injured since pre-season?

Lots of folk opting for Muirhead probably because he offers something different but I've yet to hear any positive reports about his performances in the reserves. It concerns me that he joined us in August, is only 22 years old and his fitness is still being questioned. He doesn't score many goals either(15 in 133 games)If he brings others into play then I'm all for it but the last thing we need just now is a passenger.

I'd stick with Ryan as at least he has scored a couple and has never had a sustained run in the side. His performances haven't always been great but his goals to starts ratio must be pretty decent? I'd like to see Keena up there with him.Fais might make more of an impact as a sub just now and should be taking out of the firing line for a bit IMO.if he reacts correctly to that it might lead to us seeing better from him down the line.

It seems the fans don't know the best X1 just now either-hardly 2 teams the same and questions to be answered in all areas.

I think it is quite possible that a certain loanee has a "If fit must play" in his terms of the loan!

I would hope that wouldn’t be true about Faissal.

If Durnan is fit he plays. Devine did have a good game last week. Williamson back in at RB. Would throw Beadling in and Hippolyte for Faissal

"I think it is quite possible that a certain loanee has a "If fit must play" in his terms of the loan! "

That would be utterly pointless. He's on a season long loan - at which time his contract with Dundee ends.

I'm just putting it out there, not firing on all cylinders. Still plays.

Dundee maybe hoping for some return on him if he was to be in blistering form in this league.

Imagine if he was on 25 goals now and ripping up the defences as he did last time he could easily have attracted a small fee at Christmas for Dundee not only that Fass could have insisted on it in his terms as a way to generate his next lucrative contract.
Also to stop AJ sticking him on the bench when his family come over to watch him ;-)

1 Robinson
2 Williamson
3 J Longridge
4 D Devine (if Durnan ain’t fit)
5 Ashcroft
6 M Martin
7 Higginbotham
8 Beadling
9 Faisal
10 Muirhead
11 Hippolyte

Back to basics with 442 2 wingers and 2 attacking fullbacks who can link up and overlap. We’ve had a lot of success from Ryan/Higgy partnership right side. If we could create the same left side with J Longridge and either Connelly or Hypolite think we could be on to a winner. If Muirhead is fit then let’s get a bit of presence upfront and not taking corners we need his height in the box. We need an attacking midfielder who can play box to box and have some shots hopefully Beadling if fit or J Thomson. Martin in the middle looks class and can play some fantastic passes. We need more urgency high tempo and determination with a passion to go out to win. Desire to win every 50/50 and be first to every second ball. Feel like Andy Ryan has more impact and tends to score when coming of the bench. Hopefully Faisal can get a goal.

So you were there and witnessed the loan agreement and you can use your superiority to be so certain?

Or you are as likely to know as much about the deal as me which is SFA! I just made a suggestion you speak as the oracle making you look like the tit!

It’s definitely time for Faissal to have his turn on the bench. Muirhead or Keena to start up top with Ryan.

Just putting it out there that a certain Clark never missed a game when, at points, he was a waste of a shirt last season. Nobody knows the terms in deals other than those that need to, this is not inconceivable

Or, AJ thinks that players like Faisal and Clark are able to nick a goal out of a half chance even when they're not playing well? (Clark more so than Fais imo)
