Who’s going?

We need 3 points or Alloa game is looking like a relegation battle. For GG Riva I am staying positive. First 15 minutes was good.

Good on you, 1981. I'm trying too, but it's really hard after watching that today. I've not seen a Pars team so low on confidence since the Potter era. I thought the free kick which led to the first goal should have been awarded to the Pars because Faissal was fouled before he tugged his opponent. Even so, the free kick should have been defended much better, although it was a great delivery. After that, I thought we didn't compete at all well. Like I always say, the first goal is usually crucial to the final outcome.

A bit early to be talking about a relegation battle, but we can't afford to be complacent on current form.

They pumped us 3-0 at home last time round and we’re worse now.

If they have had us watched they will know just to be physical and patient and we’ll gift them the points.

Mind you would be just like the pars to win up there then loose the next 2 games...

Just like the latter part of last season, we seem to play better away from home.
Our fans also seem to be better away from home too? I think our fans are spread out too much at EEP, and are more vocal when we are all lumped together at away games thus giving the team more of a lift.
As stated many times on here, if the BOD would open the NE stand to away fans, it could help the atmosphere at EEP, and could help the team by giving them a much needed lift.
(No! Before anyone starts, I’m not blaming fans for poor home performances)

ICT are unbeaten, but have actually drawn 7 of their 10 league games. I can't see us ending their unbeaten run, but perhaps a draw could be achievable as we have tightened up a bit defensively, relatively speaking.

A point would be a good result in the present circumstances.

I've never bet against the Pars in my life. I'm not saying that somehow makes me a better fan than you, Preston, just that I wouldn't enjoy winning the bet.

It's a bit like taking out an insurance policy on my wife's life or one of my children's. (I've got a policy for my life but I won't be personally profiting from that, I shouldn't imagine...... :-) )

Fair point GG, totally respect that. I do it with Scotland sometimes as well haha. Softens the blow a bit for me. Dundee Utd were a silly price at the weekend given how badly we've been playing. However, I will be keeping my money in my pocket until I see them team. If there are a few changes, combined with us playing away (seem more relaxed, maybe due to crowd not getting on the players backs) then I think we could see our lads bringing at least a point home.

Well when we were younger, both my wife and I had separate life assurance policies, because if she died, I would have to give up my job to look after our children and we still had our house mortgaged and a car on a bank loan.

But I'm too superstitious to bet for or against the Pars.

Mind you with a big enough bet I might have got enough to pay the mortgage off, or maybe even my wife lol!

I don't think that a defeat tomorrow will be a surprise. The worry is defeat at Alloa followed by a home defeat to Falkirk will perhaps be a concern about our league status.

I hope to God the manager and the team are not thinking along those lines, eeap, or such a scenario will become a real possibilty. I spoke to one of the first team players today. He said the league is really tight, we're only 10 games in and a couple of victories would completely change our situation. He added that defensively, we're reasonably decent, but we need to start putting any chances away.

"Reasonably decent"
Week in week out we gift a goal (or two ) !
When you're not looking like scoring at the other end , that's tantamount to giving points away every week .
We look like we need an overhaul from keeper out IMO .

Defence was reasonable when we went to a back 4 and Durnan was alongside Ash.

Since we lost Durnan, we have started losing cheap goals again.

I said I wouldn’t go to the Utd game but caved in due to it being the pars. Would normally go to the ict game but won’t now, or the Alloa game and probably not the Falkirk one either. It is sad but I just don’t care enough to put in the effort to go and watch that complete lack of effort (management, tactics, players). I wouldn’t have a problem with following a losing team if there was some semblance of tactical organisation or commitment on the park. Not that fussed for going back until something changes 🤔

AJ needs at least 7 points from the next three games.

Can't let ICT go three points further ahead of us. Also well aware how tough Alloa are to beat, but I want to see us go there and win. Got to be beating this current Falkirk side at home as well. Give the fans something to cheer about or ship out.

I didn't expect the board to react to the bad results up to this stage but now feel another two weeks of poor results will spell the end.

The very least acceptable points haul from the next three matches is six.

I trust we will get a back four of Craigen,Ashcroft,Durnan and J Longridge back soon.

With the return of a fully fit Higgy allied to Tom Beadling and, presumably,Robbie Muirhead, things can only get better.

Failure to take six points and the dam will burst.

I get what you're saying, Parsweep, but the point of my post was that the impression I got from talking to a player yesterday, was that the squad remains upbeat, they're still behind the manager and believe they can turn things around once they start putting some chances away in games. He said they have an opportunity to do that in the next 3 games, which are all winnable.

I can't disagree with his assessment, but equally, we could just as easily lose them all, but there's no mileage in going out onto the park, thinking like that or we will lose them.

GG . I know that sitting up in the stand looking down obvioysly gives a very different perspective to actually playing , but from where I view it . Our defending looks a bit harum scarum !
Why , if there's not an obvious safe pass on , can't they just hoof up the other end rather playing a 2 yard pass to someone who is already marked , and please stop trying fancy Dan tricks around the edge of the box .
While I'm at it . Do we actually practice defending corners/free kicks ? We always look under pressure at them whereas opposition defenders seem to have little trouble defending ours .

Mark Durnan is a key component of our meanest back four.

With him missing for a month, the lack of a game on 17th November is good news.

And perhaps, Lewis Martin will return.

Hope Lewis gets a game soon. He was coming into some good form before his recent injury.

He and Williamson must be the club's longest serving Pars currently with us and have seen many others come and go.

They both have had their critics over the years, but regardless of being out the team to others, because of injury or lack of form, they remain part of the bedrock that went through the bad years.

Well done to them both.

That's a really good, honest assessment of where the Pars are at this moment. AJ is not daft, he knows the club will have no option but to relieve him of his duties unless there is a marked improvement in performances and results in the very near future.

1981par will now need to erase his previous recording and replace it with this latest version. 😃

I don't think the manager was deliberately being dishonest, as you see it, Westie. He was merely protecting his players. I don't think it does any good for a manager to lay into his squad publicly after a poor performance. Any time a manager has done that he's been sacked soon after. Think Yogi at the wee team, Di Canio at Sunderland etc.

If he does it in the dressing room and it stays there, most players will accept that.
