someone would have to come in and help out Crawford assuming he took over in the short term, Nicholl would be an obvious candidate.

If it comes to it, I would go for an experienced person with first and foremost, a good track record with possible a younger apprentice assistant. You need experience not only in football but in man management , as we might have seen. In my opinion this is vitally important as you could end up with players not wanting to give their best if they are not being handled properly. It is a massive job in hand at DAFC with the amount of players to look after so as I said experience is of prime importance. If it comes to us requiring a new duo at the helm, please BOD, put sentiment on the back burner .

Posted on other thread, but relevant here too:

Peter Houston's record with Falkirk:

14/15: 5th & Scottish Cup Runners-up
15/16: 2nd, finishing above Hibs, Lost in Play-off final
16/17: 2nd, finishing above Dundee Utd, Lost in Play-off semi-final

If Hughes & Duffy are being mentioned, I don't think his track record is worse.

Totally disagree with that Steaua, that is most likely setting us up for the usual old Colin Nish names banded about. Give it to an up and coming manager/assistant who has new, fresh, modern ideas. We've had enough dinosaurs in our lifetime, lets try something new.

You can disagree all you want, it is my opinion, and we don't need to have a dinosaur at the helm, just someone with a bit more experience to blend with the younger assistant. I am 75 years old, but in football, I don't count myself as a dinosaur. BTW, what is modern in football?

PS. It is my opinion, however, I will still be a Pars Fan no matter what.

Look at some of the managers who have been successful in recent times that are right at the start of their managerial careers-David Hopkin, Jack Ross, Jim Goodwin etc.You have to start somewhere.

Just listened to the post match manager interviews yesterday and they are chalk and cheese. AJ talks about getting the first goal which is completely negative as it suggests conceding is the death nail in a game-no thought of outscoring the opposition.Conceding the first goal isn't ideal but it needn't be terminal. Neilson talks about getting the fans on board, pressing from the front and just comes across better IMO. I know it's easier to be positive after a win but at least sound like you have some belief.

Outscoring the opposition, sorry but seem to have forgotten that scoring is the most important thing in football, without goals for your team it is a horrible game with much heartache. That is where we are at present and reality check says AJ out.

I can't see how Billy Dodds could be anyone's preferred option should the job become available.

I think we're a wee bit away from that eventuality though. The fact that there's a game on Tuesday will mean no change imminently - and I think with Alloa and Falkirk thereafter, the likelihood is that AJ will remain for the moment. If performances don't improve, there could be a bit of discussion thereafter though, given that we have 2 weeks before the next game.

An interesting left field shout would be the Canadian international from Edinburgh Iain Hume. He is reaching the end of his career and could be a good choice as a new manager.

If there is to be change then I'd go for Jim Goodwin. Peter Houston is a good shout.

There's no way Robbie Nielson would've came to us. He was always holding out for the United job.

Alloa are part time but I think Googwin might be full time, other Alloa managers have been in the past. It would be a jump up for him to be in charge of a full time team.

Decent chance of getting them . Would say Goodwin would see it as a better opportunity at the moment and I'm sure McCall would as well , in the long term

Do folks really believe that the likes of Goodwin and McCall would would quit their job to come to DAFC? And if so, why?

Goodwin - yes (hence the reason I suggested him Stevie - do try and keep up 😊)

McCall - No (hence the reason I didn't suggest him)

Anything is possible. Who truly imagined Barry Ferguson and Bob Malcolm would take on Kelty Hearts?

Think we'll just stick with AJ though. His win stats are nearly 50% with us and we have improved our league position and our season ticket sales each year.
Hard for the BOD to consider that failure, especially since we are so poor and only breaking even every year, despite improvements in other areas.

Not my choice at all, because like many fans I am hacked off with the performances this season, but reality is, we're financially toiling to break even and that will probably dictate events sadly.

I got shot down season before last for suggesting McCall.
Not sure he'd come right now but he'd definitely want to be Pars boss at some point.
Might be better holding off a while with AJ and see how both us and Ayr are at later in the season.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere

I think even with our financial constraints we'd be an attractive club for most. We have a good infrastructure, good stadium, and potential to be a premier league club.... with the right management. Most ambitious managers would see us as a decent stepping stone imo.

I agree with that Lambo, but managers would always like a budget to bring in their own players and that could be a stumbling block for many.

Not many who can actually change things because they have fresh ideas, better tactical awareness, etc.

But we should keep trying if we want to move onwards.

Any manager who's out of a job just now would know he'd have to go with what we've got til January anyway. Most clubs can find some funds to help the manager freshen things up.

Although, any new manager would be able to ship out a number of our squad in the summer (if they wanted to) as they're only on 1 year deals. Even the few on 2 year deals probably wouldn't be difficult to move on.

Perhaps the crowds would increase if we won some home games. 3 home defeats in a row, I can't remember when we last had that.
