Bristol City are keen on making a move for Scottish defender Ryan Williamson, according to reports.

The Sun's transfer expert Alan Nixon claims the Robins are looking at the 22-year-old with a view to signing him in January.

Williamson has been capped by Scotland under-21s and has been impressive for Dunfermline. Athletic both this season and last, making 36 appearances last term as they finished fourth in the Scottish Championship.

The defender can play anywhere across the back line but is most comfortable as a right-back and his versatility could prove a big plus point for the Robins should they make a move.

In the summer, Williamson was linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership with Hibernian boss Neil Lennon said to be a big fan of the player.

It was quoted that Dunfermline were asking for at least £100,000 for the player, but this figure may be more should Williamson be sold mid-season - although he is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Dundee United were also said to be another suitor for the player in the summer but were put off by the asking price.

Here's to the first of the day, fellas! To old D.H. Lawrence.

I couldn’t imagine him being ‘utilised’ at centre half in the Scottish championship never mind down in England!

The mowhawk (also referred to as a mohican) is a hairstyle in which, in the most common variety, both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the centre.

His contract is up next summer, and he turns 23. Sell him now, or lose him next year.
I’d take the money

It would be nice to see the club get a transfer fee for once and it will let Ryan see if he can make it in a totally different environment.

Scottish Championship to the English Championship is quite a jump in standard. Are the fees in these transfers linked to the player's current wages? There would probably have to be some competition for his signature to command a decent fee if he only has 6 months of his contract to go.

100k mentioned in the article is buttons in the Championship, there's players in that league earning that in a month.

I’d call this article a pile of BS.

Can play anywhere on the back line? That’s the telling line into how likely this is.

At this point I’m not convinced he’s done enough to earn another contract with us never mind second tier in England. We can certainly bring in a better right back although they may not offer as much on the overlap.

He’s being kept out the team by a centre midfielder for gods sake and it’s not the first time either.

Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!

Not English Championship standard. To be fair, nobody on our books is.

£100K is peanuts for a championship side. That's probably the combined weekly wage for the top four players

If it is true, we should cash in and I would wish him all the best.

His agent is doing a good job of getting these lucrative moves for Ryan in the papers. If there is any truth in this then the club should cash in in January. Be a great move for any player going to the English Chsmpionship and no doubt financially rewarding ! Any fee could be reinvested in another right back

The fact he currently cant even get start for us when our form is terrible and a midfielder is playing ahead of him at right back says it all. He's a decent Scottish championship player at best - nothing more.

Why is their such an anti Williamson agenda on this forum. He's a great player for our level and him not playing hasn't changed that. Their will be a team of people for Scotland unders who's full time job is to judge the players they're thinking of calling up and I'm sure they'll know better than most on here.

Aye Mach1 will be. Long soon to tell us he played well against hearts.

The boy is one of the worst players I’ve seen in a long time. It was like they were short of players so one of the youths brought thier wee brother.

Petrified of touching anyone and couldn’t fight his way out of a wet brown paper bag.

It was that bad even higgy was giving him pelters and he can only play if higgy does!

I’ll drive him down to Bristol myself. Never a player and to get a £100k for him sounds like good business to me. Recruitment of a RB in January has to be a priority whether Williamson is here or not.

The Scotland U21 gaffer surely can’t be watching our games. He’s woeful, yet to see him win a header, absolute sh*tebag in every single challenge. Wouldn’t look out of place playing Sunday league. I’ll honestly volunteer to drop him off in Bristol if we get anywhere near £100 never mind £100,000.

that article smacks of an agent trying to get the club to panic and offer a new contract which will be signed instantly.

"So is Jackson Longridge as well tbf. Both our FBs are wash"

Longridge is a wing back, not a full back and its showing week in week out imo.

Williamson Should not be in a Pars squad never mind the team he offers us absolutely nothing we played the whole game without him
He been with us for years and not got any better and before all the Williamson lovers come on and tell me he had two horrific injuries I know this !
All i can say is take your pink coloured glasses off , Today again he was rank rotten and should have been hooked, I attribute him with an assist in the goal
And for Andy Ryan Good grief a golden opportunity to put us 1-0 up in the first minute it would have been easier to score than miss !! So for me he has had long enough punt him too not good enough for this division like many others in our team and AJ has to take the blame he signed this dross

He was shocking today. Struggled to control the ball, pass or defend. If he keeps pulling out of tackles he’s going to get hurt again.... happened at least twice in first half
