snodgrass not involved after an almighty barney with McLeish in Israel. Ritchie has withdrawn from multiple previous squads.

IF you take off Fletchers 6 goals vs Gibraltar our top scorer averages 1 goal every 6 games which is almost an entire qualifying campaign.

Not hard to see where the problems lie.

Ritchie asking “ Not to be considered “. Along with McCarthur and Griffiths, it seems like some players would rather not pull the dark blue on. Is it a genuine reason as club seems to come before country with some players?

Or do these particular players have an issue with McLeish and the coaching staff?

Our squad lacks quality as we all know and if we are going to suffer more of these call offs then we are going to suffer........even more.

McLeish has come out with some worrying comments. Tom Cairney played 90 mins the other night and McLeish said he had come off the bench. He’s not exactly with it at the moment. Hopefully he’s been given incorrect information rather than something more sinister.

Cairney is waiting for his England call up. Forget him.

Can hardly blame him. That Scotland squad is depressingly poor.

McLeish needs to go, I don't think he is quite there mentally.

We have gone backwards under his guidance and need to freshen things up with some young blood at the helm

He’s miles off it. Constantly contradicts himself and comes out with utter nonsense. It was a disastrous appointment.

The demands of full time football are quite onorous. The club pays the wages and the national team is a bonus or a distraction, whichever way you look at it. But the Scottish game is so far down right now that the better players that we do have need to carry a bigger share of the burden. Put all that with the likliehood that the team will fail and become targets for the media and punters. Doubt if many of us in these circumstances would be rushing to pull on the blue jersey.
