 Juventus v Man U.
Topic Originator: GG Riva

Watched a compelling game (Napoli v PSG) which really took off at the start of the 2nd half and a draw was a fair result, although either team could have won it.

Don't expect tonight's choice will be anything like as entertaining, as Jose will have worked out a plan to stifle Juve to try and get at least a point. If they manage to nick a goal on the counter and take all three, I'll doff my cap. I've little time for his antics or footballing philosophy, but he's a damned good tactician and wouldn't put it past him to reverse the result of their earlier meeting.

It'll all depend on Man U scoring the first goal, of course. If Juve score first, the Mancs could be in for a very long evening......

Watched the first half of Man U on Saturday before leaving for Alloa, the defence looks as ropey as I've ever seen from them in 30 years. i'm betting Juve to win well.

Tactical masterclass by Jose do far. Meanwhile at Man City v Shakhtar, City 2nil up thanks to a David Silva tap in and possibly the worst penalty in history. Pen given as Sterling kicked the ground and tripped over .

Tactical masterclass? I'm struggling to stay awake. Both sides have been poor so far, often misplacing simple passes and losing possession.

The 2nd half can only improve....

Mugged again. To be fair, it could have been a hammering. A mixture of poor finishing and bad luck kept Utd in touch

Juve should have been out of site. They've missed some unbelievable chances. Good free kick by Mata for the equaliser and then a defensive mix up at Young's free kick with Fellaini inducing panic in Juve's back line.

Proof positive that the better team doesn't always win. You have to hand it to Mourinho though. His substitutions paid off.

I fancy Utd to upset City on Sunday as well. City are in sensational form but Utd are winning games from behind every single week. Would not be surprised if Jose done a job again. Utd will probably finish higher than Liverpool knowing my luck .

Jose Mourinhos football is brutal but it gets results. He is the opposite of Pep but his results are similar in terms of trophies won. I dislike Jose massively but you know that if he had a season to manage the Pars and Pep had a season, then Jose would almost certainly have greater results .

It was hilarious. Fortunately there wasn’t much at stake in terms of the result. City were always likely to steam roll the opposition. Imagine that decision on sat against Scumkirk though ? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Wee bit wrong about the first goal theory GG but what a cracker of a first goal it was. ManU defied all the odds. Lost the first goal on Saturday too but still won 2-1. Looks as if they have turned the corner.

Not at all. I'm no fan of Man Utd or Mourinho but any result which enhances the chances of a title race between City, Liverpool and possibly even Arsenal is a good result in my book. A City win only increases the chances of them winning it by Easter again in a boring procession. So hopefully Man Utd cause a bit of an upset.

There are always exceptions to every rule, Paralex. I read that Man U scored first in 21 games last season and won the lot. Let's face it, they were extremely fortunate last night. Juve should have added at least one more goal before Mata's free-kick. As for their winner.......

The Manchester derby should be interesting. Somehow I don't think City will surrender a 2 goal half-time lead, if it comes to that. I agree with Kelty that a win for United is better for the neutrals and would make the league race more exciting, but I won't be crying in my beer if Jose's boys get humped... πŸ˜ƒ

Don't like Mourinho but good to see Man Utd put one over the Italian cheats. We go on about Rangers a lot on here but forget other Leagues shames.

Yes, Juve were caught cheating big time in 2006, stripped of two league titles and forcibly relegated to Serie B, with a 30 pt penalty (later reduced to 9 on appeal.) I stopped watching Serie A football after that and have only recently started watching the odd game. The officials involved in the Calciopoli scandal are long gone. It's time to move on, but I've found it hard. Juve fans will tell you lots of clubs were at it, so the cheating cancelled itself out. Hmmm.... Inter were the only big club not brought to book and benefited by being awarded 2 Scudetti when they'd finished as low as 5th and also by plundering the disgraced Juve and taking Zlatan and Patrick Vieira. This allowed them to win a further 3 league titles.

The Juve players of that era were never accused of cheating and were probably good enough to have won the Scudetto without any help from club officials, who just wanted to make sure they did. The current squad should not be tainted by the events at the beginning of the new Millennium. It's like labelling someone for the actions of his father before he was even born. There are certain similarities with the systematic cheating which went on unchecked for years at Ibrox, but no more than that.

If you're any kind of objective fan, you will admit that last night's result in Turin was a travesty. Man U will almost certainly qualify as runners up from their group and get shafted by one of the group winners in the last 16.

A stronzo is a pezzo di merda, basically an a**hole.

It's just GG setting an example for his young charges lol.

Don't know what HH means, because I think fugazi is Italian slang for fake, see the film Donnie Brasco.

It's just me calling a spade a spade, mach1. I think it's fair to say Jose has alienated a lot of folk in this country. Many are like me, we found him quirky, amusing and charismatic when he first arrived at Chelsea, but was never quite the same on his return, having morphed into a moaning, arrogant sod. He always gives the impression that any trophies he has won are solely down to his tactical genius and when things don't work out it's always the fault of the players, the referee or even the media.

How would you describe his behaviour at the end of the game last night, after his team's undeserved smash and grab? The man has zero class......

Yep. I used to at least think he was a good manager and a decent motivator, but you're right he just comes over as someone who knows he's not as good as he once was.

I think his downturn coincided with his ridiculous handling of the female doctor at Chelsea.
He was well out of order in the way he dealt with that and I think he possibly got grief from his wife and family at that time into the bargain.

Like Donald Trump, he's too big to ever admit he gets things wrong.
