 Boca v River Plate
Topic Originator: Par
Date:   Sat 10 Nov 19:12

The most anticipated game in South American football history as they meet in the Copa Libertadores Cup final has been postponed till tomorrow night due to heavy rain. Pity as I was looking forward to this one tonight, should be an amazing atmosphere and no quarter given.

I was surprised this wasn't getting more publicity here.

I wasn't able to watch at the scheduled time. Do you know which channel is showing the rescheduled game tomorrow?

Away the Pars!

This game is on my bucket list, definitely going to go there one day .flights are around £1500 return, tickets for the game tomorrow are minimum £1500 buying from the usual outlets.

Hopefully the second leg is on Freesports as well!!

Unfortunatly away fans are banned from this tie, the atmospere will still be electric but with away fans it would be explosive.

There is doubt on the game going ahead today. Rumours of thousands of Boca fans making their way to River Plates stadium to protect their players. Major disturbances over night.
Imagine if Boca win, it will be carnage.

If Boca win I'd fear for the safety of their players. This game should be cancelled. Argentina isn't equipped as a society to handle a game like this or the aftermath.

I think the River Plate derby trouble consists of more than singing silly songs at each other and waving foreign flags.

Equally, I can’t remember the last time the OF played each other in the Champions League final.

Regardless, my post was more of a reaction to the criticism of Argentina as a country as a whole on the basis they have two football teams that don’t like each other very much.

On the subject of buses being attacked, wasn’t the Man City team bus attacked by Liverpool fans not too long ago. People in glass houses...

As much as I want remotely surprised by the actions of Liverpool fans earlier in the year what happened wasn't in the same vein as what happened in Argentina last night. The game should be cancelled if only because the result is now going to be tainted. If Ricer win it'll be justifiably said that the Boca players weren't 100%.

Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.

When both teams got to the final the Argentine president described this game as too big for football too big for Argentina, I think he knew what was going to happen.

Think it's been mooted at being held in the UAE as there's a deadline for getting a team qualified for the World Club Championship. It would make sense for them both to head to the Middle East, and use it as essentially a play-off for the last remaining spot in that.

Will be interesting to see what, if anything, FIFA make of this decision. After essentially denying la Liga their right to play a league game in New York, I can see some of the money men getting their lawyers on the case.

Football is more like a religion in South America.

I went to Peru for the Scotland game and hadn't seen anything like it in terms of how much football meant to everybody. Peru, Colombia, Argentina etc had the biggest supports at the world cup and that was about as far away for them as it gets.

hills odds compilers were sleeping. As the boy was clearly getting sent off, they hadn’t changed odds. Managed to get 13/5 for River Plate in extra time 👍
