Happy to let one of the brightest prospects in years go on a season long loan and replace him with sub-standard muck. Begs belief.

Higgy has played as a forward plenty and is good in the air which being a pars forward is important these days with the amount of high balls played in.
I think that's a reasonable shout.

Smith had a good month about 16 months ago and hasn’t kicked a ball since, if he’s not playing much again this season he’s in danger of being another of our younsters who end up at the likes of Brechin after we’ve released them.

He’s not going to win any headers from our long punts.

This topic shows how desperate we are getting.

Get muirhead for and give him a chance. He’s got a more powerful shot on him than the rest of the powderpuff girls we have on the wings or upfront.

Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!

both Longridge brothers upfront is a worthwhile shot to try and easy media headline and for future pub quizzes

Well that might stop some of the rubbish posts being put up about Smith.

He is no worse a player than those we have getting a game for us just now imo.

If I was Callum I would be asking to leave, treated harshly IMO. Didn’t really put a foot wrong at start of last season never gave Hearts or Inverness players a minute on the ball and bagged a couple of goals in the few starts he got then dropped when Clark was fit. Not been given a chance since.

I would rather the club tried to develop him through the reserves and the odd first team appearance rather than spending money on Ryan and Muirhead who are no better. Better to develop and hopefully cash in than spending money the club needs.

he played a few games after he got dropped which was the right decision and did very little so to say not been given a chance since is not true.

reserve football will do nothing for him, playing regular first team football is how he will develop but he is not good enough for the championship yet, the loan is/was the right move.

would he have done better than the other forwards so far? no imo.

He should be given a chance in our team. What did he do wrong to be dropped?

Being loaned out is doing nothing for his development either.

At least with our reserves, he could get a chance to get some time in the first team, even if only off the bench.

Rarely see loan players who develop well for their own team.

Pound for pound do we have the worst record for developing our own players for the size of club we are?

7 league starts last season and 4 of those covered Clark’s injury.

Record during those games
4 wins
2 draws
1 loss
2 goals
Assists not sure

To say he deserved to be dropped and had his chance, the stats say otherwise. He was only 17 at the time.

He wasnt. He was pretty anonymous the last few games before being dropped.

Deserved to be dropped when he was. He was competing against much better strikers last year.

In saying that he could probably do as good a job as our strikers at the mo.
