Apologies if been mentioned, but rumoured on Sky Sports app that Swansea are preparing to take Shankland in the January window for £400k.

Would be an excellent move for him.

Was on the BBC Gossip Column on Monday I think - buy in January and loaned back until the summer apparently. £400k would be a tidy wee profit for Ayr on a player who was on the scrapheap and looking at dropping down to part-time football just 18 months ago.

£400k to loan him back until the end of the season, when he would be free anyway? They’re allowed to talk to him in January, with a view to a pre contract. Surely it would make sense to offer him a £50k signing on fee to sign a pre contract in January, saving £350k?

As much as I’m not a fan of Johnson, you’d be mad to blame him for us not signing Shankland. Not many (including myself) were that impressed when we had him on trial before he signed for Ayr. He didn’t do much at other clubs but for him, dropping down to Ayr in League One was probably the boot up the backside he needed to unleash his potential. Hopefully he can kick on from here and even become an internationalist in the near future.

I don’t remember one single Pars fan complaining when we let shankland go, not one. Now that he is in a team setup that suits him our more narrow minded fans are blaming AJ.

AJ played him on the wing I'm sure?

He was good for us in his first spell on loan from Aberdeen under Jim Jefferies. Scored 7-8 goals in a short spell from memory.

Since when was it the responsibility of the fans to scout and then sign players? If I recall every fan wanted us to sign up Faz at the start of the season? That’s why we don’t get paid to make decisions that affect the football club.

The only club that 'let him go' was Aberdeen who had him under contract.

I think a certain Michael Moffat has assisted his goals tally significantly. A bit like what he did with our CF now currently on loan from Dundee!!

I know some folk will think that cause He`s playing for Ayr and why should he, but is Shankland worthy of being involved with the Scotland squad. It`s an area we are really short on and with the form that he is in at the moment surely he should worthy of a call up.

Nothing to do with Ayr, it's the fact he's playing in the a Championship. He may well get a cap someday but not on the back of a good season at this level. Same goes for the crazy talk of getting Dobbie back.

Shankland has said as much himself.

Can't say I was that impressed with him during his loan spell either tbh, looked slow and carrying a bit of weight.

Ayr fan I know says that the whole squads fitness has improved due to Moffat doing fitness and conditioning work with them as part of their training.

Neither was I but I didn't realise just how young he was then. He's certainly improved a lot since then.

I take it you mean McCall, Lambo, not Moffat, unless he's their player/ coach? 😃

I think Moffat is doing his own personal training stuff so could be true.

The mowhawk (also referred to as a mohican) is a hairstyle in which, in the most common variety, both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the centre.

No Moffat. He's a qualified PT and has his own gym down there. Apparently he's been doing all Ayr's fitness work, like Gary McColl does for us.

That's very handy for Ayr and seems to be producing results.

Sounds like he's also thinking about his own life, after football playing.

Interesting comments regarding Moffat fitness work as i first thing i thought when i saw Shankland this year (prior to all the goals) was how different he looked physically.

Defo shed some weight and bulked up across his chest and shoulders from the player i remember playing for us.

I listened to Jim Duffy on the radio earlier on in the year and he seemed to indicate that he previously had a bit of an attitude problem, wasn't fit and didn't train well. Fair play to Ayr for getting him fit but maybe the penny dropped that his career was on the line after nobody above League One wanted him.

With regards to a Scotland call up-he's miles away from that. I'd call up either of Killies strikers before him at the moment.

Swansea would be a big move for him but he'd struggle to cut it at that level IMO-good luck to him if he goes though.
