When we got O'Boyle and Kozma from Bordeaux. Hype was massive, so was the price tag!

I’ve not had the luxury of many players in my 8 and a half years. I have to say, though, Joe coming home in 2015 and Faissal earlier this year was fantastic for me personally.

In recent memory probably Nicky Clark. Rated him at Rangers and didn't think we would be able to pull off a signing of his quality when in the Championship.

Looking back i think Ian Ferguson.

To get someone of that pedigree and ability in the first division was some bit of business. Don't think it is too far fetched to say aside from Celtic - ans maybe Aberdeen for obvious reasons - he would have walked into any other team in the Premier league at the time.

Big time players and internationalists that joined us in the 80s. I had only ever seen us in the lower leagues so when we signed guys that had played in cup finals and were full internationals, it was amazing.

Beedie
Rougvie
Cooper

Also signed from Aberdeen I give you Doug Considine. Now the 70s were a pretty bleak time to follow the Pars so when we signed this individual from Aberdeen who had won the Premier league the year before I remember thinking that just maybe we were on the way back and I couldn't wait to see him in black and white. We payed a fortune at the time (£30-45k?) and I think he scored on his debut and then ........

Vetle Andersen, when we signed him from IKStart in 1987, thought he looks the part, but he only lasted a few months, wasn't too bad though.

Youseff Rossi & Milos Drizic sounded like they could be sensational for us at the time and Jack De Gier was hyped up a bit too.
Getting Crawford back always caught the eye as he was a fantastic player for us.

Taribo West. I mind we played Falkirk in a midweek cup game and he was apparently in the stands watching. I went home and spent all night watching teletext for the transfer to be confirmed but it fell through!

I'm a bit older than most (a lot older to tell the truth).
Harry Colville
Jimmy Watson
Roy Barry
and all three were better than I had hoped for.
Couldn't believe it when we got Alex Ferguson. I think he had scored a hat trick for St Johnstone at Ibrox.

I always get more “excited” about signing unknowns in case we unearth a gem. I mind Gary Dempsey and Noel hunt coming over and hoping for something special. Ritchie Byrne was dubbed the Irish Rio Ferdinand but can only assume that was due to his accent and skin tone. Skerla, a signing from PSV Eindhoven was a big one. Ian Ferguson was the only one who lived up to the hype.

In recent years I expected a lot from McCabe, but never quite happened for him with us.

I'm always hoping for a top quality midfielder who can support the attack and help to lead the team forward.

An old fashioned inside forward if you like, of the Brewster variety, or maybe a Modric type.

Well, you can but dream.

think "excited" depends on your age. Junior Mendes for me as he ripped us apart when he was at St Mirren.

was excited about Kevin Harper having been aware of him as youth at hibs and how influential he was in english championship. Aroudn same time McManus extended after a flying end to the season before.

Would have to be Kozma without question. How we could afford half a million quid back then is beyond me but it led to a great season in particular with the Kozma, O Boyle and Jack link up play a joy to watch.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere

If Kozma was so good why is he voted one of Liverpool’s worst ever players ? I never had the privilege of watching him play for the pars but a quick google search brings up some absolutely horrific reviews of his performances for Liverpool.

Kozma let us down when the big stage was set up for him to perform - Skol Cup final 1991.

Failed to turn up - mind you he wasn’t the only one posted missing that day.

Not helped by Ray Sharp rugby tackling Mickey Weir in the penalty area.

''If Kozma was so good why is he voted one of Liverpool’s worst ever players ?''

On his day he was outstanding. Outstanding ability. He was the main man at EEP in his time here and was allowed to be that. Not brilliant every week but on his day he did things that no Pars player could imagine doing.

At Liverpool it was a massively bigger club at a much higher level and wasn't treated like a king. He had to prove himself against other top international players and that just didn't happen for him. Confidence players need to be loved and I just didn't work out, like it does sometimes. He didn't get many chances in his time if you look at the stats, he played 6 games! How can you judge somebody on that as the worst player ever.

I'm sure there was one of those games he came on as a sub and turned a defeat into a win. Read it on a Pool fans blog not long ago.

I remember being quite excited at the signing of Ian Ferguson and in particular Barry Nicholson, but the big one for me during that era was Yousef Rossi. An established international but someone who was injured when we signed him so it only heightened the anticipation while we waited on him returning from injury. We'd already seen how good a defender Skerla was and the prospect of those two at centre half was very exciting, especially with the attacking threat we had at the other end of the pitch.

Alex Ferguson.

I had watched him rise and couldn't believe he signed for us. Of course his stay was all too short.

Fergie and Bertie were dynamite for the short term they played together. Probably my happiest time watching the Pars because that team was "stacked and jacked"

Fergie had 66 goals in 89 appearances. His most success at any Club he played for. The 1965–66 season saw Ferguson notch up 45 goals in 51 games for Dunfermline. Along with Joe McBride of Celtic, he was the top goalscorer in the Scottish league with 31 goals.

We actually dropped Fergie for the Scottish Cup Final because he had performed "poorly" in the previous game against St Johnstone. How f----g stupid was that?
We lost 3-2 to Celtic. We then failed to win the League by ONE POINT!

Pretty much all the signings made by Jimmy C, real buzz about the club when he came in. (little did we know!) Skerla, Rossi, Nicholson, Ferguson were standouts for me. Danilevicius as well, came with the promise of huge potential. Absolute donkey for us, but went onto have a decent career in Italys top 2 divisions.

I mind dijkhuisen was signed for Utrecht as Michael Mols replacement so when he came here we all thought he’d be amazing. Wrong! I also mind when we signed Ged Brannan I thought we’d got a proper player as he was good for Motherwell when he was there. Wrong! Again!
