Given 9 of the 10 we’re against the worst 3 teams in the league by far would this be after the easiest run of games we could have had?

I’ll be interested to see our last 6 games form at the end of 2018. If we’re in the top 3 at that point that’s a definite improvement and we’ll have given ourselves every chance.

10 points from a possible 18 in the last six games - certainly a better deal than the 5 taken from the previous possible 18.

Were still a poor 7th out of 10 in the table, whatever way you spin it.

You can't really draw any conclusion until everyone has played each other home and away. Even then, there will still be 18 games to go.

Only beaten the bottom 3 teams this season apart from the first game against Lazlo team. Will judge against top 6 teams.

Most of the teams above us will have beaten Falkirk and Partick as well but I don't suppose that matters. I think what distinguishes 'positive' posters from 'negative' ones is that the former think things can improve but the latter don't. They seem to think the way the League stands after one-third of the season is set in stone for the rest of the season.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but if you look at the form table for the Championship, Inverness have drawn their last seven games. In fact, out of the last ten games they have drawn eight. They won the other two.

Don't let the form table fool you.

Thistle(h) - We were very fortunate to win this game, both were as bad as eachother.
Falkirk(a) - Granted, a good win but against the worst Falkirk team in years.
QoS(h) - We had chances but it was pretty gutless.
Dundee Utd(h) - We were hopeless.
ICT(a) - A good point when confidence would have been at an all time low.
Alloa(a) - A good confidence boosting away win, still fortunate if you look at the highlights.

I said to a mate yesterday that if the last two games had been against Ross County and Ayr we'd have been towards the bottom end of that table. All good us beating the teams below us but it counts for nothing if we're not challenging those above.

Decent post except the Alloa part. I would say they were fortunate it wasn't a hammering.
They got 2 good chances. Ashcroft dealt with one as he should and the keeper saved the other. We could have had several more if you are going down the could have...... line.

If we beat Falkirk on Saturday our last six games' points total will remain the same, but nine of those will be from games against the bottom TWO teams.

Doomed if we do, doomed if we don't.

Some fans here are just intent on focussing on the negatives. There's nothing to be fooled by those stats, they are what they are, AJ can't control the fixture schedule.

Thistle - we won, we were awful, so were Partick, goal was lucky but it was a W at the end of the day and we probably edged it.

QOTS - we had a load of chances, put a couple of them away we would have been comfortable.

Dundee Utd - yeah pretty poor

ICT - good point considering they've been unbeaten for so long. Only disappointment is we didn't win that having gone ahead twice.

Alloa - they take their early chances it was game over, but we won at the end of the day.

No-one is saying we've struck form, we've been crap, now we're being crap with the ability to get points on the board and a couple of wins. It's a good sign regardless of who we played.

We all need a pinch of optimism in our lives

...and if my auntie had baws she'd be my uncle. The point being that they weren't and we have the points.

We can’t affect change in the past, those games are consigned to history and will show we picked up points but we can in the future since it hasn't happened yet, it's entirely possible we can win the next two.

You can put any spin you like on stats. All that matters is whether we won or lost. Ifs, buts and maybe's mean the square root of hee haw once the game is done.

I'm pretty sure we'll beat Falkirk this weekend but as everyone else is beating them its not going to advance us up the table.

Given where we are its the results against the top 6 in the league that will dictate where we finish...

Yes and one thing is pretty likely, they will get better as the season goes on(They can't get any worse!) so if we can beat them on Saturday it's 3 points in the bank.

Anyone fancy revisiting this? 4 games on.....

Being lazy and using the last 5 games from the bbc tables shows the following

Ayr - 9 points
Ross county 8 points
United - 8 points
QOS - 7 points
Ict - 6 points
Morton - 3 points
Pars - 4 points
Thistle - 5 points
Alloa - 5 points
Falkirk - 9 points

All the teams below us have picked up more points than us in the last 5 games! Falkirk have more than double Who says we’re not being sucked into a relegation battle.......

I was told I was talking nonsense after the Falkirk game when I said we were in a relegation battle, things don’t look like improving any time soon. Desperately need a new striker but squad is too big as it is, unless we can shift some on, who that is im no fussy as no one has been a standout this year, only exception Jackson Longridge

Things are not going well on the park and it comes down to the lack of goals. Hippolyte, Faiss and Ryan have all failed to deliver.

We're not in a relegation battle at the moment, as there are 3 teams below us and we have a small points cushion. I'm not suggesting we should be complacent, but the squad needs to be positive in its outlook and look at catching the group of teams immediately above us, rather than nervously eyeing the teams at the foot of the table.

If you look at the last 6 games, as was the intention of the opening post, we won 7 points. I can't be bothered looking at the other teams but we'd probably be in a more favourable position than for the last 5. That might not have suited Berkey's agenda though.

"3 wins in 11 games for us"

True, although perhaps it depends what point you are trying to prove. Go back a further two league games and it becomes 5 wins (+ 5 draws) in 13, which looks a bit better.

However, the only statistic that will really matter will be after 36 games!

Looks okay until you realise we have now played Falkirk and Alloa in the 3rd round of fixtures.

This means 6 out of the next 7 are against the top 6 teams. We only won 2 of these games all season to date.

Either that record improves or we plummet down the form table.

All the teams are of a similar level. Better managers are influencing games. Ours can't or won't. We didn't deserve to win the game yesterday but with a wee bit of nous from the bench we easily could've.

Alloa are the form team just now 11pts from the last 5

People banging on about us needing a striker - only 3 teams have scored more than us in the last 5

If we had hung on for a draw today we would be = 2nd in the form table.

Joint 2nd in terms of goals against

Fine margins indeed

Everyone (apart from Alloa) is bunched up, and one match can make a huge difference - at the present rate, GD (or even GS) could determine positions at the end of the season.

Apart from (possibly) Alloa and County, the fans of every club probably think their current form is unsatisfactory, and believe they are losing ground to other teams.

Actually, it's even more bunched up than the last time I posted on this thread. Five points cover the whole league - at the moment, everyone can win, everyone can lose, and the margins between success and failure are tiny.

In the last six league games, Alloa and Dunfermline have the best "unbeaten" records (1 defeat) - unfortunately two draws don't gather as many points as a win and a defeat! If form were to be measured over the last three league games, then Dunfermline would be bottom.

Alloa 11 (+2)
Ross County 10 (0)
QoS 8 (+2)
ICT 8 (0)
Dundee Utd 8 (0)
Morton 8 (0)
Dunfermline 7 (1)
Ayr 6 (-1)
Falkirk 6 (-2)

Latest 6-game table (GD in brackets) shows how narrow the difference is between success and failure - last time I posted, Alloa were top.

Ross County 12 (+1)
Falkirk 11 (+3)
Partick 11 (+3)
Dundee Utd 10 (+1)
Dunfermline 8 (+1)
Morton 8 (0)
QoS 7 (0)
Ayr 7 (0)
ICT 7 (-1)
Alloa 4 (-6)

https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=11

Unlike in the "real" league table, points won by a team 6 games ago drop out and are replaced by the latest result. So on the "form" table, a defeat against Ayr next week would drop DAFC to 5 points and put Ayr up to 10 points.

So don't put too much reliance on the "form" table - only the REAL league table matters!

I cant agree with that. Form definately matters. In the real table PT are where they are due to a bad start and we are there due to lack of a goal scorer.
We know that PT have improved significantly and we have improved our cosching staff and front line. The 6 match form gives a good indication of how those improvements have altered the battle, and what to predict what will happen from here in.
I expect us and Partick to climb at the expense of Morton and QoS. Not sure about Falkirk.

With 12 games left, if that sort of form continues, Alloa will finish bottom and ourselves and QoS will finish on the same points in the relegation play off spot. Morton next, with Partick and Fa'kirk leapfrogging a few teams.
I have high hopes though, that we can pick up a bit of form

Only fair to look at this again, although the Falkirk result has now dropped off the 2 wins have improved us to the 6th team in the form charts.

We’ve certainly stopped the downward momentum. Win against Partick and it’s time to start looking upwards. Not convinced we have enough going forward to get 4th but i would have taken top half a week ago!

Last ten games has Morton and QoS bottom which tells a bit of a story.

6 teams in and amongst it.

It'll still be hard for us to make the playoffs. We will really need to go on a long run of victories between now and the end of the season.
From 11 games , I'd say we need to win about 7 of them to realistically stand a chance.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere

Two wins in two weeks. Thats an important statistic. What has gone before that is irrelevant in my view. The previous poor form will quickly be forgotten. The recent wins will build confidence and that has an impact going into the next few games. Its small but important steps.

We are capable of beating Partick on Tuesday and I think Utd will beat ICT.
That would leave us 2 points from ICT and 4th spot.
If we can take care of QoS on Saturday and Alloa beat ICT we will be 4th.
Even if alloa can get a draw with ICT we will be equal 4th but around 7 or 8 gd behind - maybe less.
Bit of a tall order to expect us to win 4 in a row but It is less crazy than we might have thought a fortnight ago.
Alloa.....ye never know.

Either way, I dont think getting 4th is zs unlikely as some of you do.
We are improvin. QoS and Morton on a slide. Partick are no better than us and we just beat ICT so nowt to fear there.

First things first, we have to look after our own results and beat Thistle and Queens.

BUT if we do, and if ICT have lost at Tannadice on Tuesday (surely a possibility), then Pars will be 4th, albeit ICT will have a game in hand - against Ross County .....

Final match of the season: ICT v DAFC (we've been there before ......!)

As John Cleese said:
"It's not the despair, Laura, I can stand the despair, it's the hope ....."

Just for reference, here is the "Last Six Games" League Table.

Falkirk 12
Ross County 12
Partick 11
Dundee Utd 11
Inverness 10
Dunfermline 8
Ayr 7
QoS 6
Alloa 6
Morton 5

The system is calculated by the match six games ago dropping out to be replaced by the latest match. There is an oddity this week that for their next match six teams (Falkirk, Ross County, Inverness, QoS, Alloa and Morton) are all "defending" 3-point wins, with a further three teams (Partick, Dundee Utd and Dunfermline) "defending" 1-point draws. Ayr is the only team to have lost six matches ago.

AJ27, not every team has played every round of the last 6 fixtures. There’s been games moved or cancelled due to cup games etc.

Ross county played 2 less than alloa so 6 games ago for them is not the same game day as 6 league games ago for Alloa.

After the latest results:

Dundee Utd 13
Falkirk 12
Ross County 12
Dunfermline 10
Partick 10
Ayr 7
ICT 7
Alloa 6
Morton 5
QoS 3

On the face of it, playing QoS and Alloa next is about as good as it gets. But take nothing for granted.

https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=11

Over the last ten (league) matches, Dunfermline would be 3rd in the table, behind Ross County and Dundee Utd. Pars have only lost two of these ten, the same as Ross County, Dundee Utd and Falkirk.

ICT and QoS hitting the skids as we go on a run. We should beat QoS on Sat looking at those stats.....but can Alloa do us a favour and pump ICT in Nessieville putting us 4th.
I can see them grinding out a gritty draw so we need 6 against QoS to go 4th.
Ok ....Im getting carried away!!!

Ah! Fotmob app is wrong. Of course ICT play Utd on Sunday in the cup.

Those are some stats.

Considering the top four consist of the league leaders and the bottom three out of four from six games ago. That's a siesmic shift in any league table.

Take nothing for granted there are going to be a few twists before the last ball is kicked.

"County ahead on goal difference. "

Are they? Apologies if I'm wrong.

I made it Dunfermline on +6 and County on +4, each having won their last five games and losing the one before it.

Either way it's a remarkable stat.
