Over 46k at the stadium of light today. Not bad at all for league one
Well done to Jack Ross and John Potter

Excellent crowd. Sunderland have a very loyal following but with today being a holiday it will have been swollen by families and those who can't make it on Saturdays. The fact they're handily placed for a quick return to the Championship won't have done any harm either.

I wonder what size of a crowd we could have attracted today if we were going well and playing Falkirk at home? Maybe 20% of Sunderland's today.

Is it a little hopeful that the Potter connection
(and the managers to a lesser extent) might see a youngster needing games come up here in January?

Beadling did well for us in that scenario last season and Dan Armstrong who also came in from Wolves but didn’t see a lot of game time is flying for the Rovers.

Without a doubt England is the football capital of Europe in terms of attendances.

Did they not take 3k to Pompey on Saturday?
I am sure I read that for the away game at Blackpool they sold out their 7k allocation.
Staggering figures.

Sunderland and Newcastle have huge attendances, even in bad times results wise.
Sunderland especially given the population of under 300,000.

Germany has the highest top flight attendances, England has the highest cumulative attendances across the leagues and Scotland's top flight had the highest attendance per capita if you judged it on a population basis.

You mean Therangers, HH? 😃

Ach, I'll need to stop this silliness. If something looks like keech, smells like keech and even tastes like keech, it's probably safe to assume that it is keech.

Same team colours, same stadium, same bigoted fans, singing their silly songs about an obscure, centuries old battle, somewhere in another country - let's not kid ourselves on that they're the new kids on the block.

I prefer to take Rangers attendances in the early 80s as a true indicator of their size. They were woeful.
As for the attendance debate, the Germans do well from their top league but in terms of high figures through the lower leagues nobody can touch the English. I mean just under a quarter of a million people watched the twelve championship games today. Staggering numbers.

Does that mean that the big Pars attendances under Leishman are indicative of DAFC’s size ?

Beware the mulled wine this time of year, it's stronger than you think !!!

:-)

Being reborn doesn't seem to have done attendances at Ibrox any harm.

Indeed sold over 7k tickets for Tuesday at Blackpool. Fair play to them.

For anyone following the football side of things with the table, Sunderland vs Portsmouth 2nd last game of the season at the SoL. Could be a tasty one

VE, the Rangers attendances are holding up well but it's all a facade. As the reality of the situation sinks in and the Ibrox faithful realise that they will never seriously challenge Celtic again the crowds will begin to slide. A wee while ago I thought Rangers were in the way back to being a peer to Celtic but it's inevitable now that Celtic will go on to win ten, eleven, any number you like, in a row.

I wouldn't underestimate the challenge from Rangers.

Sadly, we are heading slowly, but surely back to the big two, instead of just the big one.

Makes no difference to the rest of Scottish football whether it is Celtic, Rangers, or both dominating the game.

There has been little else since the leagues were rearranged to favour the Old Firm.

Was just about to make the same point RTL.13 points separating the top 8 at this stage-I may be wrong but can't remember it being as competitive as that for years. The outcome is still probably inevitable but at least some other clubs have had their moment in the sun this season.

Agreed.

Hearts have been very unlucky with long term injuries to their best players
Vanacek is very good and will be available in January, as will Uche, souttar and Dunne.
I’d expect a good run from them again and a wee bet on a Cup win could give you a good run for your money?

Unless Livi put another 5 past them in the upcoming round :)

All depends on the draw of course but of the outsiders I thought Kilmarnock looked a decent price at 25/1?

At the start of the season some punters reckoned Celtic would have the league done and dusted by New Year.

Saturday’s scoreline at Ibrox will be a key result.

Long term, as Mach1 says, Rangers (in whatever guise you want) are on the way up.

Trip getting sorted after the new year Raymie. JP is loving life in Sunderland, he's working hard and deserves an opportunity.
It's without doubt a results business but the fans are loving the team spirit and sense of community that Jack Ross and his backroom team have brought with them.

Hope you see a good game and a win, Eddie ?
Jack Ross definitely has something about him and appears to have a good managerial future ahead of him. We all know how good a coach John is and how well players take to him, so they could be the next Fergie and Knox?

I streamed the Sunderland game yesterday and despite having a good first half Sunderland were very poor second.
McLaughlin had little to do all game then had a low shot to deal with which he fumbled and it went over the goal line only to be given as a no goal .
The ball was about 6" over the line but they got away with it.
When watching us against them last season again at st mirren they weren't great but ground out results all season .
He's certainly got something but whatever it is it's going to run out soon

Not the best comparison there, Raymie. Fergie and Archie Know were bad cop and badder cop.....

JP is a really nice guy, that players find easy to get on with and a very good coach into the bargain. No idea what Jack Ross is like, but I'd be surprised if he was anything like Fergie, who could be a bit scary.....
