Cracking exciting game in that Newport defended with their all and the front runners kept Leicester busy Was thinking where would they be in our league set up ? Premier probably

It's a great result for Newport but the whole problem for me is the devaluation of the FA Cup. That wasn't Leicester's first team it was Leicester XI. Big clubs field weakened teams but still the same old big 4 or 5 win the trophy.

Liverpool’s selection tonight continues the theme that the FA cup is a tin pot trophy. Why don’t the Champions League/Top 6 teams just withdraw from the competition altogether?

There have only been two sides from outside of the big six to have won it in the last 20 years so I think they take it pretty seriously.

Wolves rested a few to be fair as well.

On the theme of fixture overload i was speaking to a Celtic fan at work who was telling me between the league cup, qualifiers and then the CL on top of league games they have played every midweek since the middle of August.

Callum McGregor between that and Scotland had apparently played 40+ games by Christmas. That is mental!
