 Social media pressure
Topic Originator: Porcierto1953
Date:   Thu 10 Jan 22:30

I am appalled at the board wilting to fans pressure-we are a championship side and have been for a while-what do we expect from a manager-we we’re still only a few points of top 4!!
YEAH I KNOW DUMBARTON did it -but they didn’t have the player turnover we have had-I dread the thot of going into the premiership-certainly not at the moment.
Anyway i will head off next weekend to “jockeys” country and wish stevie all the best.

There wasn’t any social media when Ian Munro was appointed manager, but the directors were made well aware of fans’ feelings back then.

"what do we expect from a manager"

Better than 2 home wins all season? Some tactical nous?

"-we we’re still only a few points of top 4!!"

While it's true we're only 4 points off 4th, it's not like we only have to win a couple of games to be in the play-offs given there are three teams we'd gave to get the better of, one of whom has a game in hand over us.

"YEAH I KNOW DUMBARTON did it"

Did what? Why are you shouting?

"-but they didn’t have the player turnover we have had"

We didn't really have a huge player turnover though, did we? We lost players in key areas, rather than large numbers.

"-I dread the thot of going into the premiership-certainly not at the moment"

I'd have "thot" that nobody expects us to get promoted this season, and even if we did, nobody thinks we'd be playing in the Premiership with the current crop of players.

Other than that though? Spot on.

If this is a relation of either AJ or SC or them personally (doubtful) reading between the lines they think a social media witch hunt has got them the sack, along with players leaving (which they could of replaced) and there was no point in trying to win promotion as we are not good enough to go up. But if you had given us the rest of the season we would have tried and probably managed to sneak into the playoffs to tick the box of requirements.

Yup that does sound about right.

Ambition and desire is what is required not abject complacency and the feeling we are not good enough before we even kick a ball!

Very cryptic OP, Porcierto.

I can only imagine you're referring to Dumbarton getting promoted to the Premier for 1984 -5 season? If so, I'm impressed by that piece of football knowledge, but
you can't be serious about the board bowing to fans' pressure, or dreading the thought of promotion.

Your post does sound like sour grapes.

What is "jockeys country" ?

I am not clear on the circumstances of the departure of AJ and SC. its only a few weeks ago the talk centred on the long term future direction of the club and AJ was very much part of that. I wouldnt want to speculate on that but can only thank AJ and SC for their efforts iver the last few seasons and getting the team to where it is now. I would also wish the new management team good luck for the remainder of the season.

The “circumstances” of AJ and SC being replaced can be seen firstly in the league table, followed by a closer inspection of individual results.

Ref back oh the net
Fri 11 Jan 12:37:

Thanks, back oh

It was the spelling threw me at first I thought, "jockeys" - horse country? or Jock's -Scotland? or Jocky Scott's? Then it dawned on me - Jocky Wilson and next weekend at Kirkcaldy.

That was a bit o' fun Porcierto, but if we do get promoted (odds against I know) we'd make a few changes, no need to worry.

We must be short of things to discuss if we're going to get into spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Do those things really matter on this forum? In other situations they do, but so long as we know what the poster means, I can't see why anyone makes something out of them.

These days we know about dyslexia. I think a lot of people have a touch of it. I worked for an elderly man who wrote and spelled like a seven year old but when it came to business, he was razor sharp up top .

If you can't spell it only indicates an inability to spell, it's not a measure of overall intelligence.

I'd say there are a lot of posters on here whose spelling and punctuation is a bit dicky but many of these are pretty bright, clever individuals. Yes I think our Porciento is pretty bright. The only fault I'd find with him is that the comment regarding Sheils would have been better left unsaid.

Where punctuation and spelling are concerned, "Horses for courses" I say. It always looks cheap and arrogant to me when I see someone putting another down over their spelling, punctuation or grammar.
