The man who was responsible for letting him go is no longer at the club. Time to move on (I think), ⚽🤔.

On Tuesday evening ,26th February Super Joe will score one and assist with the other for Partick Thistle.

You heard it here first.

This was the most disastrous decision the Club has taken since May 2015.

Personally cause he gets me off my seat I would have kept Joe but as a Business/team decision I can understand why he was let go cause he basically never kicked a baw in the last 5 months of last season and being the wrong side of 30, sentiment couldn’t come in to it as he hadn’t done enough to get a new contract. End off

With Joe away, we have no natural wingers and few if any good options for wide play.

On a related note and I expect there to be a reaction from his detractors, but does anyone notice how few decent results we get when Williamson is out of the team.

He does offer us an option that none of the others do and before I am told about his defensive weakness, I would simply say look at the results anyway, caused often by defensive errors of others.

"Why not invite Joe as a Coach?

what level is his coaching badge?
is he willing to give up playing for the rest of the season?
do we need a "coach" who has never coached before?
not what we need on the coaching side imo.

"but does anyone notice how few decent results we get when Williamson is out of the team"

4 of the 6 league wins have come with Williamson either on the bench or injured.

In at the club. Tells the ticket staff and others that he's in to sign with three others. Ashcroft, Martin and Longbridge.
He leave's the shop and the Secretary comes in looking for him to go to the office. He's at Kelty by this time, heading for Dundee UTC.

So he decided to take up a better pay deal with Dundee United, rather than stay at the Pars for (significantly) less money? What a bummer!

Can some remind me if Aird is a professional footballer or a Pars fan? Does he not owe it to himself and his family to make as much dosh as he can in a relatively short career?

Livingston par, I too think Aird is a bit of a prik but I am not too bothered about that if he can help us avoid relegation. It would be nothing new to have a couple of A-holes on our books andyway. There have been a few over the last decade or two. At this point I’d be happy enough to start Bible John up front if it meant winning a few games.

I'd love him to be in my shoes. Anyone on here who knows me will know what I mean.
Anyway does being a pro footballer give him the right to act in a despicable way. The least he could have done was tell the secretary, or whoever that he'd changed his mind and was away to Dundee utd. That would have been professional.

Sure I said on a previous thread, if not earlier in this one that I think if we got Aird back, he'd bring the best out of Higgy. They seemed to get on well from what i could see on the pitch.

Granted they play different wings, but there was this bond that drove them both on.

Aird is cocky as well, but in his defence always backed it up.

The home game v Livi just into the second quarter when Cardle got injured? A superb goal, an assist and an outstanding performance? The whole team had a slump in the middle of the season but to suggest he was the only one and a waste of a wage is extremely harsh.

I'll stand by to be shot down in flames here , but is there any real point in doing major surgery at the moment .
I think we probably have enough about us to stay up this season .
I reckon the serious work of building a team to challenge at the top end ought to start at this season's end .
Probably a better chance of recruiting the type of player we're needing then .
Would settle for a couple of loan deals just now . If that's possible .

GG, you and I were at the same fans forum when the subject of Fraser Airds lighting speed change of heart came up for discussion.

I would be extremely surprised if our board were to sanction a move for him now.

That and the boys a complete rocket who only played for us when the money was about to come off the table for contracts. Robbie Neilsons worked him out, let him rot in their reserves before getting his second dream of a move to Airdrie where he can be hero worshipped as “wanna wur own byraway”.

(Of course should he sign for us I will offer my undaunted support, the wee rat)

I judge him over the whole season and it wasn't brilliant

Are you expecting us to sign someone who is brilliant?

On the question of finance, presumably if any club offered Aird a deal, Dundee United would have to compensate him for any potential loss in earnings over the remaining period of his contract?

Aird was at Vancouver when Gordon Forrest was there. Before Forrest arrives at Utd Aird starts 11 of their last 12 games, now he is told " he's not in the plans ". Seemed good enough for Neilson before.

a fallout with Neilson at Alloa is the rumour as to why hes not been playing since, Utd apparently trying to sign Peter Pawlett and need to move players on so it wouldn't be a surprise if Aird was one of them.

I wonder if the fallout came in the following game at Partick where he was subbed at half time.
Given Crawford and Neilson's relationship I'm not sure if that makes it more or less likely for him to come here.

Less likely.

I'd absolutely love Aird to come back, he's the best winger we've had for years.

If the truth be told, I'd rather we didn't take him back, Ross. I'd be much happier with someone else with similar characteristics. What I do defend is anyone's right - including footballers - to change employer for a bigger salary. As I said further up, it sticks in the craw that he did what he did, but maybe we'd have done the same in his shoes...... Money talks, eh?

Not sure if you're referring to Aird in your post, PuP, but it doesn't take an Einstein to figure out that he went to Tannadice after verbally agreeing a new deal with the Pars because he was offered more money.

What’s the Neilson at Alloa connection ?

I thought Jim Goodwin was boss there.

Nope just someone who doesn't only play when it suits him and who hasn't previously screwed us over.

''Aird going to QOS on loan according to the Record''

Maybe we should intervene with a last-minute offer to pay a higher percentage of his wages...
