Disgusting. But he has clearly been targeted by the opposing manager as he has had a couple of tasty challenges on him already

It will be interesting to see how the football authorities and the court deal with this as we await the Scottish responses to recent incidents up here.

Need to bring the cages back. This is happening far to often now. Hopefully the club get deducted points and a stadium ban. It’s even more of a joke that the idiot was applauded. Hopefully gets a doing down at the station.

Can see the return of barriers to stop fans entering the field of play, perhaps some kind of Perspex pop up job which can be retracted quickly in the event of an emergency

Hopefully a lifetime ban from all football grounds, and a spell behind bars too. It will be interesting to see how EPL and English courts deal with it compared to the incident at Easter road.

How can you be grabbing someone when they go flying away from you after you've struck them?

Anyway, according to the Birmingham Mail the man who threw the punch is now in custody, however after he was struck, the blues fans chant: ‘One punch and it knocked him out’ to Grealish

Nice bunch!

As the players returned to the pitch after their celebration with the crowd, it looked like a steward was huckled away by the police.

As regards the idiot who should be appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow for the Tavernier incident, the namby pamby presumption of bail that we have in Scotland will hopefully be opposed on the grounds of the accused’s own safety, given that the Rangers and Hibs supports may have more than a passing interest in his identity. 21 days on remand will send out a message.

Watching the Hamburg derby ,fences and netting in front of the fans behind the goal or areas where the more vociferous fans congregate, could be coming here soon if fans from all clubs cannot behave

Very concerning. Heaven knows what is going on in football these days.
When I played football, a goalkeeper connected (accidentally) in a similar way to my head and I can guarantee it was a sore one.
Is there anything on these clubs football forums that is indicative of impending trouble.
It is just crazy at the moment.

You need more severe penalties on the individuals. The club's are doing all they can, whilst docking points is a deterrent and wouldn't be against that happening, but need to be careful as that could have the adverse impact.

That guy purposefully ran onto the pitch and tried to smack Grealish who did absolutely nothing to prompt it.

He needs to go in a cell for a year or two.

Harsh? Not really, how often has this happened and how many warnings has there been, it's time to act and deal with them significantly.

Not in favour of docking teams points.Just ban the guy for life, that would be a sufficient deterrent for most.

Steward actually looks like a press reporter or photographer you see the police taking away his camera on the monopod.

As for the attack that was no grab it was a blatant punch. Scum!

Simply make it a lifetime ban if you leave the stand & enter the pitch. If you can’t control your behaviour in public them you should be restricted access to public spaces. Giving football supporters a bad name the world over,

I thought TV companies had a pact that when somebody invaded the pitch they turned the cameras away from the incident until the perpetrators or perpetrator had been removed. This looks like copy cat incidents by airheads getting themselves on the television.

Deducting points could provide an opportunity for an numptie in a “false flag” identity to sacrifice himself to influence league positions to benefit his team in title winning or relegation scenarios etc.

I reckon that people are seeing this happen, and wanting to get their 5 minutes of infamy. This will escalate until a player gets stabbed. They need to nip this in the bud.

Just restore fencing between the pitch and the fans. With safe seating/standing there shouldn't be any problems of overcrowding any more.

And if there ever is any problems, put these guys who have invaded the pitch up for murder charges should the worst happen

The day they start putting fences around the pitch is the day I stop going to watch. It was thanks to hooligans in the 80's that we had cattle pen style terracing back then and that culminated in Hillsborough where innocent folk were crushed to death against fences put there because some folk couldn't go to a football match just to enjoy a football match.

14 weeks in Jail for Phil Mitchell (27) assault and encroaching onto the playing surface. Plus a 10 year ban from all football grounds.

21 year old Cameron Mack pleads guilty to breach of the peace at Edinburgh Sheriff Court following the Easter Road incident. Released on bail pending sentence next month. Missed opportunity. 21 days in Saughton would have sent a message.
The Scottish football authorities might move at the speed of a glacier but the courts can play a role in the immediate term.

We have an idea of what could be installed, to impede or prevent access to the pitch. Whether it is pressure loaded barriers for remote controlled barriers this would prevent access.
Impeding such as rubber bands or water moats which again could be covered or retracted on command.

Needs to be done before someone is seriously injured.

As for point deductions, not just false flags but betting syndicates would run the leagues!

Remember the Hillsborough tragedy was caused by fencing. I know that there were other factors which caused the crush and the fence was unable to be opened quickly. Perhaps the fans in England will take heed of the sentence knowing that 14 weeks will only be the start. Why on earth can we not have done the same up here? I've heard that it was because of legislation being changed in the Scottish Parliament surely, the Hibs fan could be charged and jailed up here.
