Just hit the woodwork and made the keeper make a save earlier. Has also worked hard closing down and finding space at times too. A good start by the Pars tonight.

An accomplished performance by the Pars in the first half. Indeed, as good a first-half performance as I can recall this season. Craigen has been involved in everything and there has been a particularly fine showing from young Matty Todd who is unfortunate not to have scored at least one goal by now. He's had three good efforts.

The Pars are well organised, with Anderson, Todd and Faiss regularly exposing a slow and surprisingly static County back line. If I were a County fan I would be fuming right now as so far the Pars have been utterly dominant.

Agree with Oz - some of the best football we have played this season in the first half. County threatening more in second half.

Ayr need 3 frm 15 and ICT need 4 from 12. Both will achieve that so it is 5th for us even if we win the last 4.

Another narrow defeat against good opposition though. I don't think we are far away from a challenge next year.
I hope we get some decent early signings to prevent all the abuse weve had last couple of years with AJs last minute stuff.

Pity we didn't have that never say die attitude Alloa have, they are absolutely busting a gut to stay up, and hope they do. Fair play to them.

Clueless enough to not be in a position of having to for 5 games in a row then losing by 1 goal to the 3 top teams in the league.

The issue is we've not played badly in any of the games until we've gone a goal down after that we've gone downhill and never looked like getting back into the game .
Last week 2-0 up and blew it for me to hat causes concern .
Nothing wrong with learning on the job but if this continues into next season he'll be on his bike

Two good halfs would be nice.

Even when we won the five in a row with shutouts, we still weren't good for 90 minutes.

Still, sounds like we put in a great first 45, so something to work on for the future.

I agree completely. A couple of good halfs should help them enormously. A wee bit dutch courage eh!? Hic!

"we still weren't good for 90 minutes"

which no team certainly at this level will ever do that, not sure many top teams could do that either.

we needed to get ahead when we were on top in the 1st half but didn't, County did and held on pretty comfortably.

"Might help us ?"

the subs for both teams in the 1st half helped them more than it did us

Louis was playing well down the left before he got injured.
Team played really well first half and should have been ahead but we were under the cosh second half and scully made a couple of cracking saves to keep the score down.

First half was very good, we dominated and should have been in front at half time. Second half was a different story, all County and the goal was coming. It was soft, Blair simply didn't attack the ball and the County player had a free header. After this Blair's confidence clearly dipped as he started fluffing the few set pieces we earned and the whole team's confidence went down, County's grew and they had no problems in seeing us off. A point would have been fair but it was not to be.

There were some positives, the whole team's performance first half, particularly Todd & Craigen. There was no lack of effort just a lack of quality, SC tried with the subs to get us going but they didn't offer much, and anyway in the second half we had no decent possession to work with.

Thinking back to the game last night, the injury to County's defender Van der Weg just before the HT whistle really was a key moment that ultimately changed the game; not just because the guy who replaced him scored the goal, but because he was providing our forwards with opportunity after opportunity to carve a way through to goal.

Whether he had been carrying an injury, I don't know, but he was painfully slow and was regularly being turned inside out by our players.

I look forward to seeing the highlights to gauge just how often we exploited that gap on their defensive left flank, but it seemed to me that it was only a matter of time before we scored through that area.

Alas, it was not to be.

Apart from scoring the goal, the guy who replaced him looked pretty limited but unfortunately we were never able to put him under any pressure.

Van der Weg looked like he'd been eating pies for a week and was maybe targeted by our management team as being the weak link. Unfortunately he was subbed, plan A disappeared.
