‘The 5 wins in a row’
Topic Originator: 1981par

My god. How important does this look now. I remember GG Riva calling us Arsenal with the four 1-0 wins without really playing well. That has saved our season in my opinion. Thank god we aren’t down at the bottom.

It just goes to show how tight this league is. And anyboby can beat anybody in the championship. It’s so important to get that first goal. You look at Falkirk and Partick and before the season started you would think they would finish top half of the league and be playing for promotion not trying to avoid relegation. We should have learnt enough lessons in this league and know what it takes to go on and win the league. Hopefully next year will be ours. We get back to the premiership where I believe we belong and we can establish ourselves. We have more to offer than a number of teams. We have a fantastic stadium with great facilities one of the best pitches in Scotland and a large average support.

I don't think we were "very" lucky. We worked very hard and took chances that came our way against teams of very similar quality. Something we didn't do under AJ.

We were at least lucky the other teams squandered chances....or are we going down the revisionist route?

I think we were as lucky in those games as we were unlucky in previous matches.

But age that had it not been for the little bit of momentum we managed to build up the wee would be in real trouble just now

I'm not going down any route. It's my opinion that we weren't very lucky. Not me that can't get over his appointment. I can move on.

If we'd lost those pretty even games 0-1 how many would be saying we were "very unlucky"?

Is there some kind of mental block in you that prevents you from comprehending the fact that the narrow defeats we suffered were against 3 teams in the top of the table. We have improved enough to narrowly win against the rest. There is no decline.

Because we are playing teams who are playing better than us and have some players with a bit more quality, not really hard to work out

The opening post is more pertinent now, we would be in panic and right in amongst it.

the 5 wins are looking crucial now. Remember they involved four scrappy 1-0 wins in that.

The wins were vital and they happened. We should have won today but didn't so let's not trash them. The break interrupted our momentum but teams saw the influence Brucey was having and put things in place to stop him. We are back to where we are before because we only have him with the eye for goal but these wins were crucial.

They were giving Alloa credit on Radio Scotland for winning 4 in a row saying nobody else had done it this season in the Championship. I was surprised at Richard Gordon because he's usually spot-on with the stats.
