Did any sane person think Liverpool could win 4-0 tonight ?

I saw it but still can't believe it. Barca must have thought it was done and dusted last week.

Breathtaking from the 1st minute..... superb

The greatest ever comeback in a two legged tie against one of the best teams in the world! What a result!! Hopefully the can win the final and get at least a bit of glory this season. They deserve something.

That must have been hard watching for Sergio; maybe these fireworks outside the hotel last night made a difference after all.

I didn’t think Liverpool had the control in midfield to win the tie, but as Graeme Souness often says, if you get to the ball first then that is half the problem. Liverpool did that all evening and possibly exposed the fact that neither Messi nor Suarez make as many runs off the ball as they used to.

The winning goal summed up Barcelona’s lack of sharpness. It was a crafty piece of play by Alexander, but my old school jannie would have gone ballistic at us for losing concentration the way the Barcelona players did from a corner kick. Liverpool deserved to go through on the evidence of the two games. Klopp is either a tactical genius or very lucky with his subs: they often seem to change a game.

Sometimes you have to just doff your cap and say well done. Incredible achievement considering the players they had out, losing Robertson and the massive deficit they had to make up in the tie.
Hope they get absolutely rogered in the final though 😁

Personally I can't stand them and their "woe is me" fans, but credit where it's due. That was a fantastic performance and result.

However, much like Pat's husband above I hope they get pumped off whoever they play in the final.

Was it Napoleon who wanted lucky generals, Sammer? Liverpool absolutely deserved to go through over the two legs - they should have scored an away goal last week, too - but Suarez did Klopp a huge favour by crocking Robertson, who was playing well enough but unlikely to have chipped in with the two goals Wynaldum bagged.

It's also hard to escape the conclusion that the Barca players thought they'd done enough to win the tie in the first leg and were not prepared for Liverpool's reaction last night.

Barca simply aren't all that anymore. They really are a one man team and if that man doesn't turn up then they've nothing else. Unfortunately Messi only seems to do it at the Camp Neu these days.

Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.

They just couldn't handle Liverpool's fitness, intensity and constant pressing - not to mention the Liverpool players' belief they could still win the tie overall. Negative glass half-empty dot-netters take note - the glass half-full never-say-die mentality with optimism and belief in possibilities won the day - albeit with incredible grit and determination from all the players (which admittedly we didn't have this season). The positive and noisy Liverpool fans also played their part as 12th man. Getting an early goal helped. Liverpool's win was well deserved over the two legs.

Was amazing to see the emotional reaction of the players after the game and just how much this meant to them. Coming just a day after Vincent Kompany most probably took the Premiership title off them, and despite injuries to some key players, it was impressive how they rose to the occasion rather than wallowing in a sea of self-pity of probably being so close and yet so far in both competitions. Inspiring stuff.

Under relentless Liverpool pressure Barca were like a rabbit stuck in headlights. Great quick thinking for the winning goal but as sammer says what were the Barca defence doing? What an extraordinary goal at that level of football. We have been spoilt with two amazing games in two days.

Maybe not quite - at least in terms of the 1st leg deficit, Ross. Barca themselves came from 0-4 v PSG to win 6-1 at the Camp Nou. Was that last season or the previous one?

Barcelona's away record in knockout champs league games has been horrendous. Something like lost 7 of 9 with 0 goals scored.

Incredible result for Liverpool - I hope they win the champs league and lose the EPL. :-)

James Milner is not a classy player and there have often been doubts about whether he is effective enough at international level. But he must be a manager's dream. He reminds me of Pat Gardner who was a strong player for us in the 1960s. Both started out as strikers at a young age, became strong presences in midfield, and occasionally help out at full back. I think we supporters don't always appreciate good pros like these two who never moan about being asked to play different positions and always put in a committed performance.

Milner is an unsung hero.
He took over the position of Robbo last night and didn't try to replicate him but played his own game and his time wasting at the end was invaluable to Liverpool.
