 Stephen Dobbie

Another hat-trick yesterday for Dobbie, bringing his total for the season to 43, beating a club record of 41 held by Nicky Clark. There is a certain irony that after leaving us with a team that couldn't score goals, AJ walks into Queens and inherits the best goal scorer in the league!

Of course, even Stephen will have benefitted from the trademark entertaining free flowing football of AJ and Sandy of happy memory.

AJ got us promoted, got us into the playoffs where we should have beaten United.

Fans have short memories, one bad season and his reputation is in tatters, shameful stuff.

We scored 6 goals from open play in AJ’s last 2 games. The same amount we managed in Crawford’s 17 games. Can’t help but feel like it’s a bit of a myth that Johnston’s recruitment is the reason our attack was so bad under Crawford...

We scored goals under Johnston, he set up to outscore the opposition. Crawford, to date, has set the team up to concede as few as possible.

Few drama queens on here

He’d had his time. Early seasons were good, the last couple he’d had his time. Should never have been offered a 2 year contract after last season.

Scottish Cup Winners 07!! Eh maybe not.

Yes...and now we have Stevie Crawford, an inexperienced manager who fans are already on his back...sure he'll flourish in the environment.

Berry, I agree. I don’t think the tone is right for Crawford. I think the inexperience, combined with the financial situation stated by the board. We going to be in a relegation battle next season.
However, I’d love to be proven wrong.

It would take quite a stretch of the imagination to reckon Allan and Sandy taking 1 point from the last 24.

The turgid, insipid ,uninspiring ,unmotivated display at Dumfries will live long in the memory.

We are stuck with Crawford for the immediate future, certainly going by that car crash of a statement, so little point complaining about the turgid football that will be on display.

''The turgid, insipid ,uninspiring ,unmotivated display at Dumfries will live long in the memory.''

I think a number of players, who knew they wouldn't be offered a new contract, treated the game as little more than a training session.

Understandable but completely unprofessional. Fans of both teams, who spent good money to watch the game, deserved better - much better.

Not your average Sunday League player.

Back to the title.

Doesn't it just show that age and even part time effectively, is no barrier if the quality and the fitness ethic is there?
Up to a certain level of course.

Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd, Jermain Defoe, as a few other examples.

Hence we could do with the likes of Kris Doolan or Michael Gardyne or someone in that mould.

I think full time professionals should be fitter and have more developed skills. They have 4/5 days a week and theoretically 8 hours a day. You cannot obviously train 8 hours a day but there are many things that you can work on. If you are full time, generally speaking you should always be the better team (provided you are making best use of the time that is). There are exceptions for sure and natural talent is one of those.
