If you have a smart TV you won't even need a wire thingy

I went into EE to inquire about this, it doesn't work on either the Google chrome cast or apple TV. You have to pay an extra subscription charge of I think £10 a month to be able to stream.

If you have a Google Chromecast you can mirror your phone screen onto your TV without having to pay the £10 per month. It doesn't quite fit the whole screen due to the upscaling from mirroring but the picture is still there. Not perfect but does the job

If you have a Windows computer then you can download the app from the windows store. BT thinks it's a Windows phone.

Then all you need is an HDMI cable and plug it straight into telly

It's great but never looks that great on a 49in screen.
