Agree wee eck,
Todd & Morrison were introduced during end of season, think McCann might have made the bench (not sure) and I know that Paul Allan is well thought of. So all may well feature on Match days.
Also hearing promising noises about Paul Brown so perhaps another to look out for.
Need a good mix of youth/exuberance and experience in each department on pitch.
Hoping we get the main strikers organised quickly, so team can work on understanding on preferred passes/movement etc so we hit the net more regularly. Also need keeper/defenders to work well together.
Liking the early securing of players so far... business being done quickly then move onto next target.
Last year's "disaster movie" is done n dusted, now moving onto focusing on the cast members for the "uplifting/inspirational movie" for next season. (fingers crossed)

Paul Brown is a midfielder.
on Morrison I can see him being let go to be honest.
next season has a little bit of a 2012-13 feel about it so far imo when Geggan, Falkingham, Husband etc joined, hopefully it isn't the same end to that season though!

Obviously, the board are backing Stevie Crawford for next season and he's had his eye on players over the last few months.
Seems quite realistic. He knew he had to reduce the wage bill and also start to build a new, younger squad. Possibly explains why some of the players last season (maybe) took their foot off the gas a bit.
I wasn't 100% set on giving Stevie the job, but now that its clear he's being given the chance to build his own team/squad I'm interested to see where it goes. I definitely don't mind having a relatively young team to support, as long as they give their all on the park.

All the boys that we are signing or that are left at the club look so young ( there wont be alot of shaving foam lying around eastend ) but in all seriousness are they going to be lambs to the slaughter. It's good to see the management going for young up and coming players that so far from what we have signed could have the making if a really good exciting footballing team, it will be an interesting pre season and even more interesting as to who we sign next do we go for a bit of age and experience or more young enthusiastic players

If you go with a first team squad of 20 I would break that down to
2 Goalies
7 Defenders
7 Midfielders
4 strikers
I think we need 6
GK - Sorted - Scully and Gill
Defence - Martin, Longridge, Comrie, Ashcroft, Devine - Still need 2
Midfield - Beadling, Dow, Turner, Thompson (Injured) - Still need 3
Strikers - Ryan, Smith, McGill - Still need 1 maybe 2
I know we have players that broke through like Todd and McCann and we also have Bowman, Morrison and Allan
But these guys are relatively unproven.
Maybe need less than 6 if we get the right experience in.
Really looking forward to the new season, exciting times hopefully.

Wonder if we will only see new players coming in on loan from here on in as it's quite a risk having a lot of 2 year contracts for boys who may or may not make the grade.
Could do with a bit more maturity and perhaps an aggressive leader on the park too (Fergie-esque).

The transfer window in Scotland opens on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.
The much rumoured Nisbet has 1 yr still on his contract so apparently he can't move to us until then (several people on here are saying they "know" it's a done deal?)
Think Stevie indicated there were a few players already agreed but announcements pending. May be they same reason. can't say anything til 11th June.
On this basis, I'd guess that we may see another few signings being announced and there after Loan fellas may be added to squad later.... maybe just before window closes.
The open day is going to be interesting that's for sure. Seeing players training and being able to speak to management to ask those questions your burning to get answered.....

Well, looking at the updated OP, we now appear to have signed 18 of the planned first team squad of 20. That's good going at this stage of the summer break and much better than at the same stage in recent years.
Of course, Joe Thomson is expected to be out of contention for a large chunk of next season, so we may be seeking three more players rather than two. Perhaps we will be looking at loans from here on in.
We were promised two or three "experienced" players to balance what is generally a pretty young side and having signed Paul Paton (32), Ryan Dow (28) and Euan Murray (25), I suppose that just about fits the bill. Time will tell.
Of the other new signings, only Gabby McGill and Matthew Bowman (both 18) are what might be described as young and inexperienced in football terms. The others - Kevin Nisbet (22), Aaron Comrie (22) and Kyle Turner (21) - have got a bit of play-time in the SPFL, albeit largely at lower levels.
Having signed so many players so early suggests that Stevie Crawford has largely succeeded in getting the players at the top of his wishlist.
The money from the sale of Jackson Longridge will have gone a long way to helping fund our new signings and probably played a big part in helping us beat off competition from other Championship teams.
This time last year, United and Ross County were beating us to the punch every time. Within our obvious budgetary constraints, we look to be doing pretty well.
Of course, we will only really know how well when we see them playing together. For now, as the late great Ian Dury would say; we have reasons to be cheerful.
:)

It was a competitive league last year. I think that proves it wouldnt necessarily make it more entertaining. I get the feeling it will be even tougher this year. We underperformed last season. We appeared to lack drive and ambition a bit, and needed a bit of leadership on the park. Hopefully this has now been addressed with the players signed to date. Crucial thing is for supporters to get behind the team no matter the result.

Got players in early..... Will they gel into a team?
Friendlies could be interesting to see whether or not they work together.
And if coaching team work tactically...too.
Could do with hitting ground running and getting act together quickly to get to top end of league and stake our claim as "contenders" rather than "middle of road" or "relegation fighters"
Time will tell but hoping for good vibes.

Zanatta isn't the wide player we need.
it isn't too many defenders when Morrison is likely to be used in midfied and Paul Allan is a centre midfielder, basically got 1 more defender than last season.
from what Crawford said last week the final signing for now will be a wide player, after that any other signings will only come in if players leave imo.

Taking on loan players rather goes against the philosophy of developing young players and selling them on in my opinion as they reduce the opportunities of our own lads getting in the team.

hmmm that's a hard one, a couple of loans coming in that would improve the team can only be a good things and if they are more experienced they can help bring the youngsters on.
We don't seem to have any width in the team, I'd rather play a decent winger out there than try to move a young central midfielder out and he struggles.
Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!
