Certainly won’t be Scotland.

They have been outplayed so far and will be very surprised if they make the Group stages.

Thailand are far and away the worst team I've ever had the misfortune to watch on the TV.
They are useless.
Currently being drubbed 4-0 by Sweden.... It should be double figures 🤣
And at that... Thailand score lol.
Still useless

In Thailand's defence, the ladies are physically much smaller than their European/American counterparts. Their goalie looked to be little more than 5ft 6in.

It was a penalty but harsh to punish the goalie for slightly straying off her line. The first penalty was honking and she was blowing kisses after the second effort. A female Lukaku?

There were french players in the box when the keeper was off her line. I’m not sure if the laws but her left heel was just on the line although her right foot was off it. Was a very harsh decision, which I haven’t seen the like of previously.

There’s was one a couple of days ago when the Jamaican goalie saved an Italian penalty - she had strayed off her line a bit, but not that much compared to what has been commonplace in the last 15 years or so.

Must be something FIFA are trying to crack down on...

Sounds like they are Bandy, I wasn’t aware of the other incident.
That was the first full 45 minutes I’ve watched. Pretty disappointed tbh, I don’t think the standards any better than Scottish junior football.

Why not just enjoy it for what it is? Some games have been quite entertaining and occasionally individual skill levels and teamwork have been impressive.

Sure, there's a gap between the men's and the women's game, but there's a gap too between watching the Pars and watching Barcelona. There's nothing to stop you enjoying and appreciating both experiences if you're in the right frame of mind.

Well said, OzPar. Are the critics suggesting women shouldn't play football because they'll never be as good as men? Which other sports do they think this should apply to?

The same level as Scottish junior leagues is not to be scoffed at for this stage of development in the womens game.
You forget men have been playing for about 120 years. Nearly all boys play football from an early age. The womens game has nowhere near the same resources so Scottish Junior level at this stage....impressive. onwards and upwards.
I doubt if I would get near the ball at that level.

I remember when it was first revealed on her that Caroline Weir was a Dunfermline girl. Quite a few male posters came on to say that they remembered playing football with her as kids and most boys couldn't get the ball off her.

My cousin was in her PE class and said she was very dedicated which is perhaps she has got to where she has. There was also a girl in my year who was very good but as soon as the boys have a distinct physical advantage it makes it hard for them to compete. The technical ability is there but naturally they don't have the same pace and power-that's not a criticism just a reality.

Comparing to junior level is just daft-Auchinleck knocked Ayr Utd out the cup last season-especially when there is a post above showing the World Champions lost to some 14 year olds.

I played against 2 of the Spartans ladies players in a corporate league over in Edinburgh and their technical ability was decent but they were easy to play against as they were never able to take it round you as they didn't have the pace over the first few yards in particular.I was playing for the bank team and we gave them a hiding.

I still enjoy watching the women's game and there is no doubt it has come on leaps and bounds-as others have said if you watch it just appreciate it for what it is rather than trying to compare against the men's game.

Parrot makes a fair point but it rips my knitting to hear Hope Solo and others talking about pay parity with men. I’m all for sexual equality but in a football sense the output isn’t remotely similar.

Pay parity is absolutely laughable. Woman’s football is decent for a bit of a giggle I suppose but that’s really where the entertainment stops. I have no issue with woman playing football but it is what it is . Light years behind the men’s game.

The U.S women's team might have a better argument with pay parity with the men in regards to what the U.S FA pay them as the women's team generate alot of money.

In fairness regarding the pundits I saw Dion Dublin on the other night taking a break from Homes Under The Hammer. The reality is that the majority of male pundits probably know very little about women's football due to lack of coverage/interest.

"love how there is cry for equality when its males but Female WC and not having male pundits etc nobody bats an eyelid."

Main commentator is Johnathan Pearce, Scott Booth is a summariser and Dion Dublin is one of the pundits. Unless there have been changes recently, all three are male. 3 out of 15 or 16 front of camera staff are male - that's a bigger ratio of men for a Women's tournament that there usually is of woman at a Men's tournament. But of course you're a troll so you either don't know this or pretend not to care.
