Silent auction:- Old East End Park Turnstile
Topic Originator: 1970par
Date:   Fri 21 Jun 15:37

The Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust have one (of two) of the old East End turnstiles to auction, we hope to use the remaining one as a very special exhibit in the stadium.

Funds raised from this auction will be used for that project should it come to fruition

The turnstile can be bid for by sending me your bid by email (click on 1970 par) I would be happy to send a photograph of one of the Turnstiles to anyone who would be interested before they place a bid

It is up to the winning bidder to uplift the item and transport it

This would make a great garden exhibit or could be a brilliant gateway through a fence etc, the imagination of the buyer will decide how best to use it

Please do not post bids on this thread, I will let bidders know if they are or are not the current high bidder and will let them know should they be outbid

Auction closes on Sunday 30th June at 8pm. How much am I bid for a real piece of Dunfermline Athletic history

Can’t say exactly where there were sited in the stadium but I just found myself wondering how many times I had gone through over the years

48 years at say 20 times a season (yes I know the new ones have been in a while bit just for poetic license) plus cup games, friendlies and reserve game here and there

Got to be over a thousand times, gee I’m getting auld!

Lot of interest and pics being sent out to potential bidders, a few bids coming in which don’t beat the existing high bidder

You can always try again

You old "click" baiter you...

btw I am fairly sure the turnstiles were situated where the ticket hut/office is now.

Apologies for polluting this thread 1970Par, but how is the lift fund going, and presumably the same bank account details? I have another £500 to donate courtesy of the app :)

The current high bidder is holding off all comers, with another seven days to go will that bid hold out to win?

I am intrigued. If successful, where do the various bidders envisage siting this thing? The front door? back door? bedroom door? shed door?

And are their wives/husbands/partners/mums aware of what might be headed their way? Or is a dude who wants a turnstile the type doomed to live forever alone?

Been outbid but should we have got/get it we are landscaping the back garden while an extension is built so would be incorporated in the garden somewhere - Probably next to a new seating area.
Wife aware and fine and would want some sort of planter with hanging plant on it.

I was wanting to ask this same question.

Whoever wins - I'm not sure of the wisdom of presenting it to 'er indoors as a surprise birthday/anniversary gift !!!

Auction ends on Sunday, high bidder still fending off all comers

I expect some late bidding, the hot weather will have Pars fans out in the garden considering where it would look good

I could put it in my garden -- at the entrance to my vegetable patch: but I'm a lousy fruit and vegetable grower, so I'd have to padlock it!

Would be a great addition to the garden at this time of the year. Imagine hosting a BBQ and inviting friends along if you had this fitted to your back gate garden entrance

All Pars fans could gain entry whilst those of a wee team persuasion of worse still the Multi fingered variety or those who favour larger Glasgow teams would be refused admittance

You can also put you ice cold beer down on top of it

The winning bid was £400. (Bidder gave permission to post)

This will allow the Heritage Trust to do something very special in the Norrie concourse (assuming we can get the required permission)
