They've definitely missed a trick not calling it the Tunnocks Tea Cake Cup in my opinion.
Shocker min 🤣

Don’t like Tunnocks since they said they would relocate to England in the event of Scottish independence, never eaten any of their products since

Used to love a caramel log though

I think Doncaster is deliberately taking the utter p*ss out of Scottish football and the SFA/SPL are too stupid to notice! They could have easily just made it the Tunnocks challenge cup but Tunnocks Caramel wafer Cup?! It’s embarrassing! The picture of them carrying out the draw is unbelievably cringeworthy.

Are you sure of this? What they did in 2016 was remove the lion from the wrapping of teacakes sold in England, to sell them as "The Great British Teacake". AFAIK there was never any suggestion of relocating teacake production to England, but I could be wrong - any evidence of your claim?

I would have thought a Scottish business that rebrands products to increase and expand its markets should be supported - anyway, apparently sales increased by 10% after the "Scottish Resistance" picketed the Uddingston factory. Enjoy your caramel log. :)

Back to the subject, I think it's an awful name for a football trophy!

I cant find anything online about them threatening to leave Scotland... Only that they got a lot of flak for rebranding for the English Market.

Tunnocks were very anti 'Yes' during the Independence referendum. That, and a chipped tooth due to a bite into a caramel wafer shortly before, has meant I've not had any of their products since

Writing from Belgium I'm surprised that the BBC Scotland channel is still on, apparently viewing figures are extremely poor.

It’s not surprising the viewing fugues were small in Belgium, I was there two weeks ago and never saw anybody watching it!

There has been a big audience for both BBC Scotland Premiership and Championship "Sportscene".

The poor audiences have been for the ancient repeats being used to pad the Channel out.

Actually we did hear about that. Remember all the printed media and TV were very pro NO at the time?

Why would it be unreasonable to close your account in those circumstances?

I think Standard Life underestimated the uproar they would have caused and got a big shock when so many people told them (including myself) they were intending to close their account if they moved to England and Scottish jobs were lost as a result

As I say it’s strange that these stories were swept under the carpet when the vote went the way which suited them

Exactly. There was a statement made about what would happen if something happened. That something didn't happen. So nothing happened.

I see no issues

So some folk have boycotted caramel wafers because the company that makes them had the audacity to claim that its business interests ( and presumably its Scottish jobs) were best served within a United Kingdom. I thought it was the BBC's fault that "Yes" lost but I now know that a biscuit company was culpable too.

Don’t forget Barrhead Travel, boycotted by dickhead MSP who took his travel money transaction elsewhere.
If they had sponsored any Scottish football club the crowd would have gone down a bit but the average IQ would have zoomed...
