Just seen he's been snapped up by Getafe, who finished 5th in La Liga last season - a decent pedigree.

How near is he the Scotland set up these days? - can't be many players playing at a higher level; the only one I can think of is Robertson.

Scott McTominay is another.

You’d think he would be given a chance if he is doing well enough to earn himself that move.

Maybe give the guy a chance to actually play for them first. He’s been playing in the 2nd tier so it’s not really accurate to say he’s playing at a higher level than Scottish players playing their trade in the English top 2 divisions.

Sure the player himself will want to establish himself in the team at a higher level first before worrying about international games

What about the Scottish boy who’s playing in Italy? Also, David Bates seems to have disappeared from the international scene. Bundrsliga 2 is surely a better standard than our top flight.

Worth noting whilst it's just paper talk at the moment, Man Utd are being linked with a move for John McGinn who's been brilliant for Villa.

Liam Henderson is playing for Hellas Verona who, I think, are in Serie A.

Wonder what Tim Parks makes of him.

David Bates is, injured which is why he wasn't in the last squad
Liam Henderson who plays in Italy is not any better than our other midfield options

Was very good for Malaga for the first half of last season. Got injured and generally made sub appearances after that. Good wee player though and would like to see him get a chance for Scotland

Saw a couple of clips of him on YouTube.

Not so wee though.

Apparently 6’ 1”.

Hope he kicks on. Ryan Gauld seems to have stalled.

How is billy gilmour getting on at Chelsea? He’s meant to be brilliant. Not a great club for youth development though. Ryan Gould is free to find another club

Y, shame for Gauld.

hats off to him for taking the leap, but he's followed the same pattern at each loan club.

Loaned out to 2nd tier/lower Portugal (grim) plays a few games, gets benched, gets injured (stress injuries such as hamstring)

Same happened at Hibs last season, lets hope he finds a place somewhere and kicks on.

Karamoko Dembele will be our best player ever if he chooses to play for us. The wee guy is unreal.

was the same not said of Izlam Feruz who fell into obscurity and few unproductive loan spells at Hibs/swindon from Chelsea?

Dembele will play for England. He was born there. He’ll only choose us if he has to

Zod - When you say Chelsea are not a great club for youth development, I think you are not recognising the difference between producing talented players who have good careers elsewhere and giving them opportunities to play in their own first team.

Prior to this year, Chelsea won the Youth Cup five years in a row and in the past couple of days they've sold 3 academy products for a combined total of around £20 million.

Anders Christiansen, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Calum Hudson Odoi are all part of the first team squad. Nat Chalobah, Ryan Bertrand and Jack Cork have all played for England and Nathan Ake for Holland. Dom Solanke was sold by Liverpool for around £18 million after leaving Chelsea, on loan Tammy Abraham was the leading striker in the Championship. Others like Mount, Tomori and James had impressive seasons playing for Derby and Wigan. There are literally dozens of others who've played for their countries at age group levels in the past 5 years.

The point is, Billy Gilmour will has a fantastic learning opportunity at Chelsea. Whether or not he makes it into the first team we will have to wait and see but you can be certain that when / if he does leave, he will have been given as good a footballing education as he'd have received anywhere in the country.

Dembele certainly seems to be leaning towards playing for England. Makes sense for him.

John Fleck absolutely bossed the championship last season and can’t get a look in either.

Would be pretty gutted if Dembele does choose England but if he turns out good enough for their first team you can't really argue with his logic. Still crazy young though

Heard many rumours of Dembele possibly going on loan to the Wee team next year.

Dembele will be in and around the first team next season at Celtic no question.

Dembele already has a Scottish League Winners medal and Scottish Cup Winner medal despite only playing one game for Celtic. He picked up his league medal after coming on for a 44 minute appearance against Hearts, and got his Cup medal for being an unused sub at Hampden

Going further back there was also Eddie Cunnington.

Have the rules on that changed? I remember it used to be a minimum of 10 games (I think) before you qualified for a league winners medal.
