Surely for the opening game of the season we should pull in a reasonable crowd? Regardless of whether it's on TV or not.

Good, means I won’t miss it. It annoys me that we only seem to have our home league games on TV however. Always means we lose a crowd. Hopefully we get a few away games live on BBC this season.

Pretty crap considering Dundee would have probably brought a big crowd. Know a few friends who won't be going now as they can sit in and watch it on the telly.

The 7.05 kick off time is pihs. Terrible time for working and family life for a lot of people. Especially away fans.

Apart from utd v alloa and our game the rest of the games are over 2 hours driving on a clear run, never mind rush hour traffic then to get into the ground for a 7.05 kick off.
Morton fans will have to leave around 2pm to get Inverness for KO, watch match then drive home, getting in around 2am.

Shambles, if BBC must move games to a Friday night make them reasonable travelling distances.

East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

5 Dundee / Dundee Utd AWAY games in the first 8 ?

Nothing like shafting the rest of the division's crowds.

Every team will lose 2 home games to BBC Friday night games so it all evens itself out over the season

It won’t be even if we lose Dundee and Dundee Utd at home & Dundee lose ayr & Alloa.. for example. We’d lose far more cash than them.

This game being moved to the Friday is a joke.

I was weekend off and had no issues now with it being moved to the Friday at 7:05pm I’ll need to try beg someone to swap my shift since im 12-8.

Who’s idea was 7:05 kick offs it’s a disgrace

Do we receive any extra money for the game being on TV? Or are the monies put in a pot and split regardless of how many of our games get moved to Friday night?

Morton have released a statement complaining about having to travel to Inverness on Friday 30th August for a 7.05 ko when they have another trip to Inverness midweek in March

seagull1 - no extra money apart from our split of the Championship pot......the top flight clubs get more than the Championship clubs as part of this deal if I remember rightly.

I always wonder why they don't just refuse-seems a really bad deal for the Championship, that one game alone will probably cost us 40k-and as for Morton, they need as many hardcore fans as possible-chasing them away is really damaging.

The whole TV deal is weighted heavily for the Old Firm-but should be more evenly spread out, the OF don't need it, Europe is gone for them, so there is no need for them to spend huge.

Live games on terrestrial TV are a financial disaster for clubs like ours. Remember the last time the BBC broadcast live games? They were on a Sunday pm and invariably, it would be the Celtic or Rangers away fixture. John Yorkston said that the home club got £50k which was cancelled out by the drop in gate money, while the away team got £45k from a game they normally would get nothing.

So the OF got richer and the rest got poorer......

Not your average Sunday League player.

I had assumed that this deal was for the teams in the lower leagues. Stand corrected, not a great deal for championship clubs. We take the hit on gate money, while those in the top tier take the biggest slice of the cash. Pretty poor we don’t even get any extra dough to soften the blow of loss of gate revenue imo.

As I understand it,the Championship clubs share a pot of 11% of the BBC income from televising the highly popular" Championship Sportscene "programme.

At a previous Supporters' Council Meeting ,I recall Ross saying that the club only got to refuse one such approach.

It may be the Club refused having the Dundee Utd match televised ,hence they chose the Dundee game instead.

Though I believe Ross was referring to BBC Alba matches eg the Irn Bru Cup of happy memory.

The Championship TV deal was discussed at length when it was agreed - while it's true to say that Championship clubs dont gain much financially through this deal alone, the money went into the general SPFL TV pot which is then distributed to all member clubs. So all SPFL clubs get a share of all TV money regardless of which league - the Championship, League One and Two couns get some of the TV money from SKY/BT which shows almost exclusively Premiership games. If the Championship clubs were to demand all the BBC money, the Premiership teams would be demanding even more of the new SKY deal, vastly reducing the overall TV money we and other lower League sides would get.
